Nature has ways of dealing with overpopulation. And it's never pretty.

The bunny huggers may get more then they bargained for.
If rabies gets a hold in the Coyote population, a very real possibility with the populations as they are, trapping will suddenly look like a humane alternative.

But trapping and hunting combined would do little to stop the outcome if that happened.

History shows us that the only way to stop such a Rabies plaque in wild predators is an all out effort using every available means to eliminate all potential carriers. Including the widespread use of poison.

The last time it happened we lost the majority of our Fox, Coyote, Wolf, Otter, Fisher, Marten, and Mink populations plus thousands of domestic animals as well.

When I started trapping there were no Fox, Otter, Fisher, or Marten anywhere in the Peace River area. But when my dad moved here in the 1930s there were plenty. They all disappeared in the Rabies plaque in the 1950s

Ran across this tennis ball that would be great for hazing.

How hard are they even throwing the tennis balls? I'm sure the citizens throwing them are scared to actually hurt the cute fuzzy coyotes.

I'd like to see a news flash on TV of some real footage. Citizen winds up, looking all scary and serious, then pansy throws the ball because he's scared to hurt the cute animal. The coyote runs away because he's looking for food, and everybody cheers!! Success!!!

I think these clowns are armed with the wrong balls.

All this will do is teach the coyotes that they don't need to fear humans. They are obviously smater than this lot with their silly little green balls.
This will only make a bad situation worse. Morons.

The way average people throw they should set up recruitment stations beside dunk tanks.

Lead remedy does work, 12 gauge loaded with 00 buck shot. Never saw a coyote repeat harasement after that treatment. His brothers in the area also get the message.

Bo Jackson couldn't throw a sand filled tennis ball with a ribbon hard enough to hit a coyote before it moved. Next story will be about the city paying to rehab a bunch of shoulder injuries.

The city sent out a letter that said if we kill coyotes they will have larger litters and and we will end up with more of them. They didn't mention if this works with other animals such as mosquitos, rats, deer or people.
In the same letter they said it is important that pet owners clean up after their pets in order to reduce coyote problems. I am all for cleaning up after your pet but is this related to the coyote problem? I asked a real biologist. She said that she knew of no connection between the two.

I've heard the same nonsense about shooting wolves, yet when I shot 6 out of a pack the rest disappeared and my calves quit mysteriously dying.

Wolves in the western US went from 31 to 4500 in 22 years when they were protected, so I don't think canines are self regulating unless they run out of food. The coyotes will eat pets and kids before they starve to death.

I’m thinking hunting them with paint ball guns would achieve better results, and be a lot more fun..😊

Not a supporter of this hazing theory but whoever thought tennis balls would be the perfect tool is extra thick

From what I know of wolves and coyotes, they will stay in an area until they run out of food, then they die off or move - unless they are convinced otherwise .
They are not stupid. If they know danger is around, they will make themselves scarce

Ya that worked out real well for the Buffalo in North America or for the Walleye in Alberta in the 90’s.

Better than nothing, I suppose...

It is more likely to receive social license than "Bring back the city-wide coyote drives!"

My coyote hazing looks a bit different. And it is substantially more effective, in a permanent way. We are proud to have a zero re-offense rate with coyotes that I have hazed. We would like to acknowledge our co-hazers Remington, Winchester, Federal, and Hornady.

If someone shakes a can of coins and toss dog food it can really cause confusion.

I think if you changed it to a paintball coyote hunt… they could make the paint balls red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet and make it coincide with Pride Week. Could be cool seeing multi coloured coyotes. Could be a tourist attraction.

Coyotes will be smart. They will figure out who these hazers are, hide and then wait for the next poodle on a string to munch on.

Trick is you freeze the paintballs first...

Coyotes are coyotes...they will adapt and will stick around where they believe food is...

I guess woke city folks haven't figured that one out yet...

Those liberals are probably too weak to throw the tennis ball far enough to hit the coyotes. If only there was a way to launch that tennis ball for long distances with pretty good accuracy.

Oh wait, there is, it's called a potato gun.

We just yell inane insults at them - using poor French accents - like in the Monty Python skit.

Alberta coyotes hate anything french.

Mentioned before, but throwing 00 lead balls from a 12 gauge would be alittle more effective!
