Savage Arms, rifle trigger interchangeability

I’ve submitted the question to Savage Arms Support, but thought I’d throw out a new thread for some open discussion.

Does anyone know for sure if the trigger assembly in different model savage rifles are interchangeable? I’m wondering if I can take the savage accutrigger out of a model 10 .223 and put it in a savage axis .243 without the accutrigger?

My initial thoughts are that they are not interchangeable...

Have you considered putting in a Timney? They work very good.

That is exactly my thoughts! Furthermore....

The wife’s axis 243 we got for super cheap at the wholesale sports blow out, it has an awful factory trigger. My model 10 has the accutrigger, which I would put in the axis if I could, and then spend the money on a timney for the model 10, which I shoot a whole lot more than she shoots her 243.

Depends on how old of models, Accu triggers, vs the old mouse trap style trigger, bottom bolt release vs top bolt release.
Going to Rifle Basix’s or Timmey’s website will help you filter through this.

If I was you I’d just order a Rifle Basix’s(I prefer them to Timmney) and be done with it(factory direct ordering too)

If I recall correctly the non acutrigger axis can not take an accutrigger if it was not already equipped with one. I highly recommend the rifle basix triggers for axis replacements.

Thank you! I will look into those for the axis. Would you recommend the same for the model 10 or should I try a timney? I’ve never upgraded a trigger before, if you haven’t noticed haha

Both the rifle basix and timneys are fantastic triggers. Just look at the specs for each and choose which one you feel fits your shooting style the best

I just did a Rifle Basix trigger change out this morning on my 77/22. The instructions were precise and detailed and it only took me a few minutes, and what a difference. From 6 lbs down to 2 lbs. Nice and crisp with no travel. I also did a Timney swap out on a Savage 10 (pre-accutrigger) also with amazing results. These are the only 2 triggers I have changed out but both companies supply great foolproof instructions.

I have installed Rifle Basix on many different makes and models of guns. Had one defective trigger out of all of them, RB replaced it immediately and great service. They are easy to install, have great instructions and very good telephone support if you need it. I have also used Timney, Canjar, Jewel, and a few others. Never found a trigger I didn't like except the Jewel don't like being the least bit dirty. Great for a target gun, not so much on hunting rifle.

As far as the accu-trigger, they are good enough I have never felt the need to change one out, but I also don't have them on my big game rifles, only varmint rifles. If it was on a hunting rifle I would change it because I don't like the trip feature if you pull the least bit sideways.

I have not tried the new Canadian made triggers but have read a lot of very good reports on them. If it was me I would order one RB for the Axis and one for your Savage. I was going to suggest trying a TriggerTech for the 110, except I just checked their site and the only bolt guns they show triggers for is Rem with Weatherby coming. The Accu-trigger won't go on the Axis without a lot of modifications that just aren't worth the effort. Let us know how you make out.

Thanks for all the input! I think a Rifle Basix trigger should work just fine for her axis! For now I’ll hold off on replacing the accutrigger in my model 10, as I am not unhappy with it (Although I do not have any expertise shooting an aftermarket trigger to compare it to haha)

“ Firearms made without accutriggers cannot be retrofitted to have them. The AXIS and 110 are different and parts are not interchangable.

Yes that is correct, I did the snip on the spring a couple of years back and it is holding up great. Not sure what it lowered down to but it works fine for me and at no cost.

You wont be disappointed with the Rifle Basix trigger, I put one in my Axis and love it. Easy to install, can go lighter than I want on a hunting rifle and very crisp. I also have a Trigger-Tech in a Remington and think I like them equally.

Ordered the RB trigger earlier today! Thanks for the input, I’ll post back with how it turns out.

I put a Trigger Tech in one of my rifles and it’s nice. Don’t know if they make them for Savage though. I have used Timmey and Jewel they both work super too.
