Default Big Pike from PCR

A big pike hammered a walleye I was pulling in... and finally let go about 5 ft from shore. About 10 minutes later a buddy was able to coax him onto his line. Very nice fish... and he was super stoked. Took a few pics and sent her on her way.

Nice fish Doenz

Beautiful fish !

Likely one of the ones under or near the DOCK !
Those PCR Pike are some of the healthiest fish I've ever seen. They put up a really nice fight too. Well done !

Cheers,

Nice fish for sure. All these reports of the pike chasing the small walleye...a guy should pick up some herring from superstone and cast that out there and try to catch moby....

Hopefully it learns and moves away from the dock, would hate to see that thing killed for no real reason.

Good job on the release, I have probably caught 150 fish in Alberta since I moved here last year.

Kept 5 trout from Chain for a fry, and one 31 " pike cuz it was hooked deep.

That's normal on large females in warm waters, as far as I know. Caught lots with those colors.

I think your at least 5 lbs light in your guess, Wayne; but, I could be wrong (I was once before).
That is a gorgeous pike (I don't say that very often!!!); love the red coloration in the fins. Were y'all flyfishing?

I'd say 12 to 15 but pike sure have a way of looking huge and measuring light sometimes. I always seem to guess high on pike and low on most other species, probably from having pike weigh less than I think they should my whole life.

Easy 10lber. No question. Even though he extended his arms to make it look bigger
Depending on the girth I would say she's a little kinnier, so maybe 12lbs.
Super nice snake. GREAT colour.

Did it fight much?

Ya know, I tied his line, baited his hook, and told him where to throw it. You owe me beers Doenz.

Once in a lifetime buddy. I hate you.

Yeah,

I have one of those BERKLEY 50LB Digital Scales and IT SUCKS ! Damn thing has NEVER weighed anything properly. Anything over 10lbs and the scale is off by 5lbs ! Anything over 3 or 4 pounds and it reads around 2lbs, etc, etc... I caught a nice FAT 27" walleye at Travers a while back and it only read 4lbs, 5oz ! The thing just won't read anything properly and I can't seem to get it to ZERO in !

Last time I buy one of those..... what a POS.
