Formula above works, or 1 part ATF/1 part Varsol/1 part Acetone/1 part denatured (ordourless) Kerosene.
Been using for years for regular cleaning of bore. A friend had a seized closed O/U shotgun from his Dad, I gave him a 1/2 gallon of Ed's Red, he took the action/receiver off and soaked it overnight, it freed up "like new" with no degradation of the bluing. Takes off the plastic deposits when used regularly.
