Default Favorite Varmint rifles

What is your favourite varmint rifle and scope combination as well as the critter you use it for.

I just got a CZ 527 in 223 and put a B&L 4000 6-24x40 scope on it, use it for coyotes. I also have a CZ 22wmr with a weaver scope, a Savage 17hmr with a Bushnell Elite 4200, and a Savage 22lr with a Bushnell Elite 3200. I use the rimfires for gophers. I can't say which one is my favorite I like em all.

I use a .220swift for coyotes reaches way out there with a lasered 409yard hit this winter. For gophers the .17 HMR does the trick. Any .224 cal rifle will do the trick.

Hard to beat the prices and useful range the .223 offers.

I have a Savage 22lr with a cheap Bushnell 3-9x32 rimfire scope and a harris bipod on it. Works good for gophers.

Coyotes I use a tikkia 22-250 t-3 ss HB synthetic, 1-14 twist with 5 shot clip, with millet 2.5 x 16x56 scope mounted on leupold rings and bases with rocky point bi-pod.

Gophers I use .22 LR ss synthetic semi auto mossberg. With bushnell 3 power for the short range stuff. But for the long range I go for the 22-250 again.

And I like to go out from time to time with my flatliner to keep sharpe in the off season.

Love the savage SS 17HMR with the heavier varmit barrel and the accutrigger. Use a cheap bushnell 3X9 scope meant for .22s like $70. Once sighted in, it is a laser up to 100yrds. Never had the opportunity to shoot it further than that. But at anything up to 100yds its head shots on gophers. For practice we set up those little airline liquor bottles at 100. Way too easy. Lots of fun and cheap to shoot. Gave it to my son as a gift.

Damm, just talking about it, I'm going to go buy myself another one tommorrow.

hard to decide if my favorite is the 22 hornet or the ruger tactical 10/22 or the Allegiance VFT bow. I can do eye shots at 40 yards with it, deadly bow.

Mind you, I dont have to clean the bullets off to reuse them like the arrows.

why not just buy a small centerfire? for pennies more a round you can shoot a 17rem, 221, 22hornet, 22, 223, and have something practical, and will give the desired results in gophers to yotes, with a LOT less wind and range handicap,
of course, you will have to reload, lee.

not set up to reload yet and theres a rossi pump I am looking at in the 22 mag that would compliment my collection nicely. The small centre fire will probably be next though . I've already tagged 4 gophers with the 22 this year but I don't shoot them at 250 yards like you though

My favourite is my Sako Vixen heavy barrel 222 with an original Burris Fullfield 4X12 with fine reticle scope. I also have a Rem. 700 SPS 22-250 sporter weight barrel with a Leupold VXI 4X12 that I use for coyotes. The 222 gets used mostly in the gopher fields.

For yotes I use my Weatherby Laminated SS Vanguard in 22-250 with a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15x40.

For gophers, like my Savage synthetic stainless heavy barreled 17 HMR with a cheapo Bushnell scope. Knocks them dead easily at 150 yards.

Bought last night so have never used it yet, a Savage in 17 Mach2 for when the HMR is heated up plus cheaper ammo.

Ruger 10/22 with a Bushnell scope for the close in work.

I just got the 17 so haven't used it on gophers yet. If I was to have just one it would be the 22mag. Put the best scope on that you can afford. My opinion is 100 yards is a long way with a cheap scope.
