Ord is surrounded by farm land and Saunders is a slough, very shallow eutrophic lake. Doubt either has any fish, maybe suckers but that would be it.

I know the area quite well and I can tell you that close to town fishing is very limited. There are Rainbow trout in the Leduc Reservoir but they are nearly impossible to catch and access is fairly limited. Wizard Lake and Coal lake will be your two closest pike lakes. Pretty much all lakes close to Leduc east of town are sloughs that don't really support fish.

Beaumont also has a trout pond which is nearby and while I haven't fished that spot myself I have heard from friends that the fish are much more catchable than Leduc.

PM me with any questions on lures or spots and I would be glad to help out any way I can.

if your in leduc you got some good fishing nearby that arent trout ponds .
Coal lake
Pigeon
Gull ( isnt to far )
Wizard
Wabamun ( isnt to far)

do yourself a favor to go nearby 7-11 pick up a Barry Mitchells fishing guide * remember this isnt the regulations , just shows you the lakes that have fish , and a little write up about each lake that the information is pretty stale , but good directions and such in this book .

Pretty much the NSR is your best bet in that area. I've caught a few trout out of the Leduc res and fished Coal for enough years that I just cant do it anymore, the place just seems broken these days compared to how it used to be. If you are willing to drive a bit Mound Red park down by Rimby is a nice little trout lake, Wabamun is decent, Pigion is Pigion...

There is a trout pond about 1 km south of hwy 39 on the hwy to devon (hwy 60 i believe?). I went there once but did not have much luck.

Yeah you are right. The Jim Nelson Trout Pond. Smaller pond but lots of little trout.
There are also many, many lakes within an hour drive that will keep you busy for days on end.

Default Hang on - what about west of the city?

Hi:

While I know you are in Leduc, I'll just point out with the completed construction on the SW portion of the Henday puts you within fairly easy reach of the trout lakes west of Edmonton. One hour or less will put you in range of Chickakoo, Star, Hasse (any trout left?), Spring, Muir lakes for trout.

Anyways, just thought I'd broaden the scope a little...

Cheers,
Smitty

Does this sound like the right place?

Mound Red Park
780-586-3508

From Hwy 2: Go West 11.5 miles on 611 then turn right onto Sec Hwy 792 & go 2 miles North, turn west and go 1.5 miles to park

Do you know if you need to be a camp-ground guest to fish?

Yes, it is about 10 miles South of Westerose on the South side of Pigeon lake(hwy 13). At the correction line go East "about" a mile. I have not been there in a while, but you don't have to be a paid camper to fish there. My best luck came on top of the earthen dam, on the North side of the actual concrete spillway.
