Fly Fishing around GP?
Hey folks, I move to GP about 2 years ago, and have been slowly starting to feel out the fishing in the area. I've checked out Spring Lake and Swan Lake as well as the Wapiti, and Smokey rivers.
However, I keep finding myself heading back west into my home province of BC to fish the streams around Tumbler Ridge. I want to find some water here in AB and not too far from GP with some good fishing.
The folks at the local shops haven't been much help, basically saying Swan, Spring and the Wapiti. I guess fly fishing isn't too big a thing around here. I don't have much interest in walleye and pike.
I have heard and read some about good fly fishing down towards grande cache. Does anyone have any suggestions about where a guy could head for some good bull trout, grayling and trout fishing?

Right now is the best time of the year around Grande Cache.
You have bulls and grayling north of town. Nice Rainbows in the Muskeg south of town.
Nice stocked Brookies in Pierre Grey Lakes south of town.
Patterns the same as Tumbler Ridge, Sukunka, Pine......

Actually - Figure 8 is NW of Peace River - my bad. I don't know why but when I read your post I read Peace River instread of Grande Prairie. My senile old brain just not on straight today.
Anywho - Figure 8 is not to far from you anyway - about 150 km NE

there is lots south of town, quad makes it a lot easier to get in spots, 2 lakes area or south on 40 to grande cache area as well. You can also look into peace country fly fishing group, jump into their meetings for tips on some spots to try out.

unfortunately, i don't have a quad and my truck isn't really one i plan to take hardcore 4x4ing, at least not yet. i've been down to 2 lakes but never fished it. the one fellow there said there were no fish in it. didn't sound right since it looks pretty fishy to me.
i didn't know about the peace country fly fishing group. thanks for the heads up, i'll check them out.

2 lakes is good fishing, the road can be rough to get down after a rain, so if you don't want to "hardcore 4x4" wait until its been dry for a week, which seems pretty uncommon anymore around here.
