We really, really, really need help. If you can help out it would be great....
You are invited to participate in the 11th Canadian National Fly Fishing Championships and Conservation Symposium, taking place in Calgary September 23 – 27, 2013. This catch and release event will bring together fly fishers from across Canada to exchange technical information about the sport, address conservation issues, and engage youth. Additionally, money raised through the event will support Trout Unlimited Canada’s conservation efforts along the Bow River.
This unique event is being hosted by an organizing committee made up of dedicated volunteers from Calgary’s fly fishing and conservation community and is a joint effort between Fly Fishing Canada and the Calgary Fly Fishing Championships Chapter of Trout Unlimited Canada.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
A variety of volunteer opportunities are available but there is a specific need for Controllers during the competition. Controllers are responsible for measuring fish captured by competitors and ensuring the competitors’ score cards are filled out correctly. Training for this volunteer position will be provided and no special skills or equipment are required although experience handling fish is an asset.
Volunteer shifts for controllers are approximately 3 hours long and you are encouraged to volunteer for both a morning and afternoon shift and/or multiple days. There are five competition sessions: morning and afternoon of September 25 and 26 and the morning of September 27. For more information or to register as a volunteer please visit the website as noted below. Volunteering as a controller is an excellent opportunity to see some of Canada’s best fly fishers and some beautiful Bow River fishes!
