Default Fishing shack hole layout

I'm looking to build a shack but have hit a dead end when it comes to hole placement ... The shack is gonna be 7' x 10'. Would like 4 or 5 holes but am not sure where to put them in relation to stove and door .I've been in a few shacks and all have their pros and cons. Any input would be appreciated, as well as other shacks must have's and neat ideas

I would make the stove close to centre as possible. Then put hole on each side of that.

It's difficult to say, not knowing the layout of your shack... But in general, you want them at least 3 ft apart to prevent tangles. Not too close to the wood stove and hopefully not right at the doorway. Also make sure, wherever you put them, that you have room for your auger handles when you're drilling your holes.

You can't reasonably get 4 holes in a 10' shack, let alone 5. If you want that many holes you will need a tented in annex running off the front door. The Annex is easy to build and will stay warm if you leave the door to the shack open.

Put your stove in the corner closest to the door and put a small fan up in the ceiling above it to blow the hot air down to the ground. 2 holes, starting 4' in and then a 8' along the bench seat on the wall opposite to the stove would be what I would use. You can probably get three in by staggering them, starting 3' in close to left bench seats, 6' close to right bench seats and 8' near bench seat on back wall. If you want to stay in the shack overnight, make sure you have covers for the holes so you don't step into them going for a pee.

Staggered set up but in a longer and narrower shack. You sit on the bench farthest from the hole.

Traditional Trailer layout. Box is 7' wide but 18' long..

Awesome looking shack...looks like you could have a steam/sauna while fishing...

Thanks guys .Those are all awesome ideas/layouts .We have set up a number of scenarios in the shop to decide which ones work best for us and have taken into account a lot of the ideas that have been presented. No matter which way we go all I know is that it will be great to put some quality time in on the hardwater in comfort!

I would build the floor in such a way (on a x/y grid on a box frame 12" o/c) and cut the plywood into 12" panels like floor tiles with screws.

That way you can try a couple different layouts and just move the floor panel in 3 minutes with a cordless drill. Just swap the solid 12x12 floor tile for a 12 x 12 with a hole.

There's a good chance you are going to have to do a few trips and try a few layouts to see what works for you.

Yea that grid system doesn't sound like a bad idea at all! Will definitely have to run it by my shack building partner
