Default Mink Lake

We were out at Mike on the weekend. No perch and only 8 small Jacks. The perch we did see were all small, 2 inches. Two years ago we were catching them, lots and good size. Did anyone hear of this lake getting winter kill. Or does anyone know how I can find out? Thanks.

There is little perch down there, its just going to take 4 to 5 years. Too bad the fishing was good there.

U should try cranberry or bat south of redearth and see how they are doing. Used to be good.

I talked to the area bio about that lake and other around... Sounds like they didn't winter kill... But many have been fished out! They are going to lower the limit on many perch lakes soon. And he even talked about a size limit...

I sure hope they do lower the limit and put a size restriction on perch, I've had too many good perch lakes ruined because of over fishing. It's sad to say the least, and it would be nice to be able to have a few more pictures of some hump backs coming out of lakes close to home.

I guess you would say by Nampa, it's way East of there out in the oil field roads.

I wouldn't say that lake is fished out. When I went out there there was not that many fishermen there at any given times. it's not that big of a lake but it;s big enough to support some pressure. and I never was out there in the summer.

I found Mink the same as you Yamaha. 2 yrs ago was getting decent again, then I noticed last year a big drop in numbers. Have not fished it this year, so its sad to hear. With the low water levels it could likely be a kill of some sort. The limit was reduced on mink and as mentioned it wasn't over fished like it was in the early 90's. Agreed that perch lakes in Alberta do get fished out but don't think it was the case in mink...imo

Yes I have never acutally been there, I just talked to a fish bio. I know many of the lakes around there winter killed in 2007. But they should have been back up now. I was looking for some perch lakes like when I fished with my grandpa. And that would have been in the 90's when the cut the roads into cranberry lake area...
