Trading him for a balanced skilled team would be a smart move now.

Wow. Really good game and OT win against Vegas. That rush by Weegar, and goal with less then 5 seconds on clock...oh my.

And Vladar was stellar.

Tanev blocking shot with his face was kinda cringe though.

Officially in a wild card playoff spot. Confidence builder.

Didn't watch the whole game, to late for old guys, but it was 1 - 0 LV at the end of the 2nd when I shut it down, was a fast game up to that point

Looks like Calgary had some pretty concerning defensive breakdown but Vladar played amazing and won them the game.

Another OT win against a good team, despite a waved goal that was good. I'm allowed my opinion on it. Flames starting to show some grit, that's a few comeback wins now.

Big Z makes his debut against the flames on Saturday. Should be a good one.

Kylington back on the ice at practice today.

https://twitter.com/ryanlesliemedia/...49052902289566

Not super surprised as if he wants to be able to continue to play in the NHL he needs to get on the ice to get a contract for next year.

Hopefully this means whatever he has been dealing with he is finally getting better though.

They also called up Ilya Solovyov from the Wranglers, I'd expect to see him filling in for now.

Zadorov has 588 games played and now on his 5th team. Liked his toughness, reach and jumping into the offence but a liability in his own end when there is chaos. I think he thinks he is better than a 3rd pairing guy. Let's find out canuckleheads. Saturday's flames/Van tilt should be fun

Great 3rd period. Would like to see that the whole game, but will take it.
Happy for Wolf, he played well.
On to the next one.

I...did not expect that. They are making a habit of coming back for 3rd period wins.

Dustin Wolf looked good in net.

Well if you like lots of goals last night's game had 11 of them, scoring 5 should get you the win unless of course you give up 6

Trade them all (except the young guys)!

Wonder how many more games we'd have won if we broke it down and followed some basic Novice strategy:

-Defense, one of you always, always needs to be between our goalie and their last man back, always (a 2 on none really shouldn't happen when we're on the PP );

-Defense, far post, always, unless they have a guy in the slot, then cover him. Don't be far post, just watching them be wide open. I know, it's great seats to see the goals, but......

I'd love a 3 year plan and stick to it, not, year-to-year, lets just try to make the playoffs and see what happens. Oh well, slowly drifting away, haven't watched a game yet this year, posting less, watch the highlights sometimes.....

Well another shootout lose last night and if Huska put Huberdeau in another shootout he needs to lose his job the bum should be playing in the minors until he learns not to pass the puck to the opposing team.

They cannot afford to have Huberdeau down in the minors. The hope is that he starts doing some scoring and then send him away in a trade with some other players. Some people are saying the Hubiedough contract is one of the worst NHL contracts ever. Thanks for that Tre. Speaking about Treliving will be interesting what outlandish contracts he starts doling out to Leafs players.

Memory lane.

Johnny Gaudreau stats today

32 games
17 points (5 goals)
-16 +/-

Huberdeau

31 games
15 points (4 goals)
-14 +/-

Morale of the story… giant contracts for players after a record year is a fools game.

Contracts should be a base amount followed by set bonuses. Perform for pay.

Otherwise it just looks like these guys have no ethics and are cashing out and hoping for an early retirement.

Assuming no injuries of course.

In a perfect world we should have traded away Huberdeau’s signing rights and started a team rebuild.

We are playing better these days but not thanks to Huberdeau. 3 Zary’s would have been a smash.

Tkachuk only has 21 points in 30 games.

He is back to his coasting days.

Even coasting he’s still better than hooby and kahdri.
Plus all the instigating he provides.
Big loss for the flames.

Now of course I'd rather have Chucky on the team than Kadri, however, that being said, Kadri has been playing well/better of late. Kadri has put up more points on a middling team, playing with two rookies, than Chucky has playing on a Stanley Cup contender playing with established vets.

Just thought I'd do a comparison following their last 18 games.

Calgary is currently 13-14-5 with 31 pts.

If 95 pts is required to make the playoffs, they'll need to go:

-0.640 win percentage for the remainder of the season;
-Get the equivalent of 32 wins; or,
-32-18.

Nine teams had a 0.640 win percentage or higher last season.
Currently their win percentage is 0.484%.

Definitely doable if just getting in is the goal, as they're only 3 pts behind Arizona, but they haven't really made much progress in their last 18 games.

I think they are starting to hit their stride. They have been playing really well the last few games, maybe just getting used to Huska over Sutter.

The younger players are getting going, Pospisil and Zary. Kadri as much as I don’t like him is finally starting to play like he did in Colorado.
