Default My Parker Hale met the belt sander today

300 win mag safari

Roll over cheek piece

Every time I shot that rifle it bit my upper cheek. Not any more.

We sanded that thing down and now it not only fits me better, I dont hurt more than the animal when I shoot it

Sure it was pretty before. But now its functional and fits me.

Sometimes you just hafta do things like that. This winter I will remove that cheap laquer finish and linseed the whole thing.

It's my quad gun. Dead on with open sights at 100yds. Thats all it's for.

Haha. I like your practical approach to things. Just like that Sako stock repair last year.

I’ve got the same beater in 308 Norma
Sanded her down and restaind her with a satin clear coat on top
I only pull it out for moose hunts and she has never let me down
One of my most accurate rifles

Anyone could shoot my rifle with open sights and hit within "3 at 100yds

Best $300 I spent in a long time. Ive owned a few Parker Hales and never had a poor shooter.

Belt sander is 2 deg. away from using a chain saw.

Default Yup

Parker Hale, one of the most underrated rifles.

I have an old .308 Safari DeLuxe that's the same way, very accurate rifle.

Kinda purdy too !

First rifle I bought with me own loot, was a Parker Hale 1200 7RM with the fancy rollover comb, think it had the hinged floorplate, the nice chequering, the contrasting colour forend tip. Believe it was 175.00 or so in about 1968/9 or so. Shot that with irons for a year or so, it had a couple of mulies under its belt. At that time you could shoot a buck and a doe on the same tag in BC.

Just bought a old but brand new Parker and hale 300 win mag safari from a individual on this forum … installed a new 4.5 x 14 x 40 with cds scope on it, now I just need to find a load for it , was thinking some 180 grain tsx Barnes to start . Anyone know a good load for this rifle ? And yes it is a pretty gun although I think it fits me quite well , I almost don’t want to take it out on the quad or in the bush it is in mint condition and maybe 50 rounds through it . Love the Mauser action on it .

Might be ready to hunt with in 2023 if you hammer on the linseed oil. Use sparingly sir. I love the stuff and finish all my stocks with it but damn. A little goes a long ways.
