Default Road to Whati, NWT

Looks like the NWT government is building an all season road in the community of Whati. They will also be buidling a campground a boat launch. What was once a fly in lodge (Lac La Marte Lodge) you can now drive to and fish. I dont know about everyone else but I will be making a few trips to go camping and fish for big northerns rather the fishing the mackenzie.

There is some question as to if the Tlicho will object to others hunting and fishing along this road.

Hauled equipment in to the community over the winter roads many times. Kinda sad to me that there will be an all weather road. Lessens the remoteness of these places.

I read once maybe 15-20 years ago that there were plans for a large resort and golf course in the area to attract tourists. I doubt it ever developed, but this road may be the start.

How long is the all weather road suppose to be, IIRC the winter road was about 200 km long over a few lakes. 5-6 hours one way loaded. A little quicker out empty.
