Default Trad guys, What's a good longbow?

I'm looking to pick up a decent longbow, it can be new or used but I'm not sure how many pounds so I was hoping for a bit of advise from you trad guys. I shoot 70-75lbs on my compounds but I'm not sure what that would translate to in longbow. I know absolutely nothing about longbow brands as far as who or what's a good maker and model. If anyone has an extra right hand longbow they want to part with shoot me a pm.

After asking here for advice on behalf of a friend, he purchased a Bear Montana longbow. He loves it & would recommend the bow to others.

Get ahold of Dennis at gitr done archery in Calgary spend an hour with the man and you will not be disappointed. He has many great bows there to try and he will let you try all of them. I would think that you should go with a 40-45 lb longbow and get your proper form figured out first. Good luck welcome to the dark side

Go with a 45 lb longbow and have fun! As Trav said welcome to the darkside. There are some custom bowyers in Sherwood Park and probably a few for sale at Sherwood Park archery.

Thanks Trav, your the second person who suggested Dennis. I'm going to meet up with Petew tonight and he's going to let me play with a couple of bows that Dennis sells.

I'd like to send a big thanks out to Petew for letting me try about a half dozen or so of his bows and for being kind enough to let me have his custom order 53lb Bears paw Sioux. looking forward to sticking an elk in a couple weeks!

I let you take a few shots with it, and I promise to take good care of it. Maybe we'll have to do a little elk hunt down at my cabin, the elk will be bugling soon!
