Default Leader-Links

I just bought some of these. Anyone ever try them before?
$5 US for 5 and free shipping from the States. Looks good

I bought a pack a few years ago and they were fine.
Last year I bought some and they were flimsy and soft and didn't do the job.
Gave up on them and went to the Rio Braided Loops. Work great.
If all else fails you can always go to the tried and true nail knot.

I used to use these until I couldn't find them anymore. With a little epoxy in the opening would seem to last forever and held together even with some good size steelies on the coast.

Yeah, I've got my braided loops on stand-by if all else fails

Braided loops hinge like crazy and in my experience often fail on big fish. A much better solution (in fact the only thing I use for any line without a welded loop) is a 3"-4" long piece of 20lb-25lb mono nail knotted to the end of the fly line with a perfection loop tied in the other end. This setup turns over naturally and does not fail. I have lines that have had the same loop on them for 3-4 years and still have no need to change them. Learn to tie 2 simple knots and always carry a spool of 20lb and you will never have to add a braided loop or link again. Oh yeah, they pass through your guides as if they weren't there.

I'm with Professori. A 4-6 " chunk of stiff leader tied to the line with the nail knot, and a loop on the other end, or on sinking lines, a swivel instead of the loop, and another swivel for the tippet on sinkers and chronie leaders. KISS principle applied. The floater gets a loop for tippet as well.
