Default Bighorn Open House

I put this in the Bighorn thread but thought maybe it should also be a separate thread.

Jason Nixon U.C.P. MLA for Rimbey/Rocky/Sundre is hosting an open house on the proposed changes to the Bighorn Backcountry.

Feb 7, 2018 7p.m. Dovercourt Hall. (South from Rocky on hwy22)

Hi Doug, I do think this is REALLY important, but what I meant was with the few views and almost no posts on attending I can see why the NDP/Y2Y et al are easily having their way.

I will be attending and so will a lot of people I know, it is gaining traction on Facebook apparently according to the wife. I think the issue of this thread is the thread title to be honest, bighorn open house doesn’t have much sizzle to it

Ralph- if you are on Facebook, look up the “This is my Nordegg....” group. There’s a large group gathering to fight this. They are among many groups banding together.

This is castle 2.0. The Phillips/Y2Y alliance are going about the same way. The people are reacting the same way. I just hope for outdoorsmen sake it doesn’t “end” up the same way as castle.
Look at the way shannon is creating parks... following Y2Y map/directive to a t. We should all be worried. We should all be united against this eco plague.
Good luck up there all!!!

Definitely going to attend. These f ¥£#ing eco-terrorists running our amazing province need to be leashed and caged.

I think that I will take this meeting in, there is a lot at stake that once lost will never be regained. I don't know what the answer is to the quite recent human impact on the eastern slopes, but I'm sure there will be opinions from both ends of the spectrum at the meeting to educate us all. D.H.

Count me and a few of my friends in. I'll post this info on the other forum I visit.

Best band together if we want to hold our grounds.

I have informed some of my friends, who complain about all the closures, restrictions etc, about this meeting. None of them have the time to show up. All I can say is that this is the time to get informed and speak up. The government has an agenda just like they did when they had quiet consultations before they closed the Castle area. If you can't make the time then you can deal with the consequences, Y2Y has the time and the money. Without our support for our love of recreation in the Eastern Slopes, it will be taken away from us. This movement is dangerous and we need to stop it now... if you think this area doesn't concern you, you are wrong, next on the list may be an area close to you. They are closing off our wilderness in small pieces, one at a time... yours may be next. Please make the time to attend.

Jason Nixon, MLA for Rimbey/Rocky/Sundre will be hosting an open house Feb 7 at 7 p.m. in the Dovercourt Hall. (South of Rocky on hwy 22).

Topic at hand will be on the proposed changes to the Big Horn.

The meeting in Innisfail is a local Fish and Game chapter meeting and not open to the public. The meeting room is very small and it's a Legion; Please respect our veterans and their space.
Please go to Dovercourt which is open to the public.

That wasn't how it was presented in the facebook post below, but if that's the case, then so be it.

Thanks Dave, I am aware of the post.
I spoke with the Chapter President and his intention was not a viral social media. This is an emotionally charged issue.
I have offered to catch any these posts and direct people to Dovercourt event.

Please, this is not a public event in Innisfail.

Cheers
Cal

I thought I would bump this thread at the last moment just incase anyone makes it to the Dovercourt Hall tonight. Sadly the weather and road conditions don't warrant the trip and I really wanted to attend. For any A.O. members that make it there please add to this thread with a report of how the meeting went. D.H.
