Talk about light.....
I did some shopping and came up with what I wanted for a new rifle. Talked to the best shop in Alberta, Flys Etc in High River, and I had it in my hand in days.
It's a Kimber Hunter in 308 Win topped with a Leupold VX-2 3-9×40. Coming in at a svelte 6lb 4.9oz it has some definite pressure when you shoot but still very manageable.

Nice and tidy. Should be able to put some meat in the freezer with that for sure.

This was one of the first groups. These were loads I had built up for another rifle that I have since sold. A little more refinement and it should be pretty good.

This was another load I was working on, this time using IMR4166 instead of IMR4895. 4166 isn't as temperature sensitive as 4895 so I'd rather use it and it seems to work ok as well. I can try seating a bit deeper, going up 0.1 grains, or just leaving it. Then to work up some drop charts.

No kidding. You might burn out a barrel and not find two better loads. Lightweight rifle that shoots sub moa out of the box. What else are you looking for? LOL. Don't get me wrong, for years I tried to squeeze every 10th of an inch I could out of hunting rifles, burning gas and powder to no end. Now, I have come full circle. If it shoots factory ammo 1.5" it's golden. Time to go fill the freezer I say
BTW, I really like that rig. Really, really like it.

Some smart guy gave me the heads up on the paper. I forgot about the dauber but these dots are the next best thing. 3/4" and 200 in a pack for $1.25? I'll take it.
The rifle is close for sure. I dont really want to go heavier with the bullets. I sti have another 200+ of these 165's. How sensitive is the RL15? That's a big part of the reason j wanted tk use the IMR4166.
I dont think I have much more testing to do. The big thing now will be doing the drop charts. I think I have maybe 20 rounds in to this rifle now, and its 308, sk I'm not really worried about burning out a barrel. That being said, maybe I'll have to order a barrel for it just in case.
Now the downside, my son loves this rifle. Hes still shooting his flaming deer skull Weatherby Vangaurd S2 in 243. He can handle the 308 but with how light it is, it's a good jolt even for me. But now we need to find a way to get him one, in a slightly smaller cartridge, that still has factory ammo and components in easy supply. A lite more research on that front as well.

Nice guns, too bad they don't make a LH version, I would have one in 7x57 or 7-08 in an instant.

I have some large 'flip-over' graph paper that I hoped would be ideal for tall Audette ladders.
Unfortunately, the lines are NOT accurate divisions of Imperial or Metric.
I still need to measure my drops with a tape or ruler.
I would VERY much like to find a source for more ACCURATE squares.
Are your squares accurate divisions?
Source?
I would also like to find a large sheet of accurately spaced Imperial (and also another in Metric),
with heavy line squares suitable for verifying scope reticle stadia lines and turret travel and repeat-ability.
Good Luck, YMMV.

I note that nowhere in the Staple's product description is there any specification of line spacing, (the 'View Full Product Detail' website button does not return any further details).
The current product available may be more accurately printed than mine, (YMMV). I would buy more if accurately printed, I suggest verification of accuracy before purchase.
The line thickness on the paper I have is too thin to see @ long range through a 25x magnification NF ATACR scope. I suspect that better line density and or contrast may be helpful.
I suspect that I may need to go to a good commercial printer such as West Canadian Digital Imaging and have accurately squared sheets printed.
I once had them print my business logo on large heavy clear plastic (mylar?) scaled to different sizes. IIRC these sheets (there is a specific acronym I forget) are (were) normally used as an intermediate image in a commercial printing process.
These sheets would be ideal for verification of scope reticles and turrets, and could be used as an overlay to measure results of tall Audette ladders.
If there is any interest, we could make a larger group order.
I suspect that 100 copies would not cost much more than 2, I will make inquiries next time I am in the city.
WC is just down the street from Proline in Calgary, and also have an Edmonton location. I suspect that a group order could easily be split for delivery in both locations.
Good Luck, YMMV.

There are many there to choose from. I got the Staples branded ones and the squares, measured with calipers, is 1”. I don’t see the need to go on a chase for someone to something that’s already readily available in a situation like this.

Accuracy is relative to usage and need, and its lack is more troubling for some than others.
I just remeasured my flip-chart pages, individual squares measure 1"x1" but there is a cumulative error that causes 34 squares to measure 34 3/8".
This accuracy may be 'good enough' for most usage and needs, but IMHO is not 'good enough' to verify scope reticles or turrets. A cheap steel yard or meter ruler or surveyor's rod is much more accurate, and a surveyor's rod is designed to be visible and accurately read through optics at long range. These rulers and rods are good for vertical and windage scales and turrets but difficult to use for 'box' tests.
The problem with inaccurate scales occurs when inaccurately measured results are compared with those accurately measured.
As always, accuracy is a product of consistency.
Good Luck, YMMV.

RL15 is quite stable. I haven't seen an discernable difference in shooting summer to winter.

I might have to get some to try possibly. My sons really likes this rifle as well. Just unsure if I want to get him one in 308, 7-08, or 6.5CM. I already know that Lee will say 6.5 is out but I think if hes shooting a good bit, 308 is out as well. The rifle doesn't hit as hard as my buddies Ruger M77 Hawkeye in 7MM Rem Mag, which he can shoot, but it's still not nice either.
