Default In need of Efficient Heat

Looking for an efficient heater for my cabin to keep it warm enough the water won’t freeze. I’ve only got water in the washroom and it’s 100sqft with r24 walls. Would ideally like electric but open to propane options as well. I’m also thinking about a hot water on demand unit instead of a hot water tank. If you got ideas I’d love to hear them.

Thanks!

Floating stock tank heater. Set @ 5, 2000L half warm will keep the whole room ice free. I think the heaters are 1500 watts, cost about $30 monthly iirc.

speaking from experience, if you are going to be away from the cabin for any length of time you cannot risk having water in your system in the winter. I will guarantee you that at some point the heater will fail and you will have a collossal mess. It might not happen for years but at some point a tree will fall over a line or a bird will short out a transformer somewhere and the power will go out. If your place is remote then it will not be a priority for Fortis to get it back up quickly and it doesn't take long at -20 for a problem to occur.
If you are going to be at the place on a very regular basis I would say electric is the way to go cause its easy and dependable, but leaving water in a building in the winter when you aren't around is asking for a problem.

Kurt, I put in heated flooring in my hunting cabins bathroom to ensure the water main line doesn’t freeze up. It works like a charm. I bet if you put a circ pump in your tank on the heated floor it wouldn’t freeze up.
