Default Saskatoon Town

Just set up for an 8 month job in Saskatoon. So what’s there to around here. I don’t drink, don’t chase women(or men), rarely smoke! I’m not even sure why I should keep on living... all kidding aside, would like to meet any of you that live here. Maybe get some advice on things to see and do. I will be going home on weekends, but my weekday evenings are open for exploring.

Eight street, has all the restaurants, nice golf courses by the race track. Head to Waskesui (2hrs North) Prince Albert National Park for weekend beach, golf, and nice little Saskatchewan gem. Go hunt big Monster whitetail. Hunt Bears spring/fall, hunt snow geese. Fish big walleye Tobin Lake. Good restaurants by the hotel Downtown ( Bessborough hotel). Day to visit Waneskuwin Museum...
I been gone for quite a while from Saskatoon, however always enjoyed the River.
Good luck

The Alberta Outdoorsmen Forum is going to be moderated out of Saskatchewan?
I am offended.

Saskatoon is a nice city, especially along the river in summer. Unlike Edmonton, they have plenty of bridges to handle the traffic across the river.

You should be. I think I’ll quit and you can volunteer in my stead?

Not doing much in the evening, in the time of Covid.
But then we're old homebodies, even before Covid isolation.
Favorite Mandarin restaurant - Yip Hong's. Excellent Dim Sum. They do a roaring take away business.
Western Development Museum is worth a visit.
Good, locally roasted coffee at the Broadway Roastery - 8th St.
Best wishes for your Saskatoon stay.

Yes, yes, the moderator should live in the constituency of the people he represents, because being paid by the Forum members to represent us, would be conflict of interest, unlike Mike Duffy
Good on you Leo

I don’t know if you like fishing but walleye should be biting down at the weir which is east on 33rd street. Also, dief is only an hours drive and the fall bite is on down there for walleye and rainbow.

Maybe time to try something you have always wanted to do...?

- play an instrument
- sharpen that axe or other knives you have been putting off
- find something you like and research the heck out of it
- the are a lot of good AO members in that area; hook up with some
- tear down that firearm you are delaying
- if you have any daylight after work, take a drive
- start a simple training regiment

Good luck,

An idle mind is the devils playground.....haha

Stoonians are some of the friendliest people I know. Join some Facebook groups of your interest and do a few ‘meet ups’. Although the town was ‘hacked’ during the seventies ‘modernization’, there are still many unique historical points of interest. I’d be seriously contemplating residency for those outstanding hunting opportunities.

I find the city generally pretty friendly, although drugs are having an impact as more tweakers etc cause average person to be more wary because of increased assaults etc. Happening everywhere though, we are just starting to see it increase.

There are a lot worse places to reside, thats for sure.

I really like Saskatoon. I was in a hockey tournament there a couple of years ago though where we had an evening event at a club about ten blocks or so West I believe, of downtown. I was getting ready to walk back to my hotel downtown and the bouncer outside seemed incredulous that I would walk that far at night in that area. I made it through safely fortunately.

I live 40 minutes west of that little city and I can tell you that there is nothing to do in town lately and fishing is far away. Which end of town have you settled in?

Set up camp on the North end of town for the duration. I wanted to be close to the job I'll be managing.
