October 31st at 930am a great mature bush buck I've never seen yet shows himself at a mock scrape. One day later and I was in the stand for the opener (yesterday)!

Time to put in some serious hours this week.

During the last two weeks give or take a day on either end of November I have shot more mature bucks between 10 am - 2pm....but I also got a few on first and last light....bottom line is just get out there and if in your case with work I would try to book off time mid to end November to make the most of it....dam work eh! Good luck.

It’s funny you say that because majority of the animals I have shot have been between 10am and 2pm no matter the species or time of year

I swear they come out think all the hunters went for lunch

So glad that I'm not the only one that thought that!

Once I came back from lunch and found that several deer investigated the base of my tree stand, checking out my footprints and broken branches.

I’ve had at least 3 deer where I had to decide whether I really wanted to put down my sandwich or not. Lol

farted around with him after grunting.....he left but kept looking for the source...was fun.

this was just off a mock scrape maybe 30 yards or so....so after the sit I pulled the pics off the camera....til we meet again.

Alright you guys convinced me to give this a try. I’ve read about it before but never tried it so this will be my first go. I bought some tinks power scrape from Canadian tire and it came with scrape dripper that says to set it up above the licking branch. Is this necessary or should I just squirt some of it in the scrap itself?

I put it on the scrape and on some of the branches around but I don't hang anything in the tree....but who knows....all I know is that you gotta experiment with things...good luck.....oh and yesterday early morning sit had two buck sorting themselves out behind me and a few doe's 20 yards in front of me....this went on for 20 minutes then the bucks took off grunting etc....left me all wound up....felt like I ran a marathon...came home ate....slept and then went out again....

Oh and this is In The area I set up multiple mock scrapes now the bucks are freshening up mine and making their own too....

Well for myself 2 mock scrapes are duds so far. Out of the duds the one area has went dead do to oilfield construction no new sigh or pics in over two weeks so understandable. The other area the completely ignored the mock scrape but the real deal 40yards away has been busy and new ones made.

Another mock scrape has had some interest but not much but plenty of deer passing through

The other is at my wife’s spot she will check the cam tomorrow

So far I am not getting much results. Good thing I can find real scrape lines easily

I will let them ride for the season before I decide if I will try it again

What a gong show yesterday.....snow....blowing snow....forced to set up my chair pop up blind.....couldn't see but still sat and went through the motions....on dark packed up and started down the trail just to come face to face in the quads headlights with a tall, wide beauty buck....who just pranced off to the right so I could pass by.....thank you for your consideration in allowing me to pass by Mr. Majestic.....not sure how to approach this area now.....snowing....clear scrapes and carry on as per normal.....I will let that area rest today and hit it first light tomorrow....hmmmmm.....

ok this is getting stupid...went in at 0dark30....set up....sun light starts to make the woods come alive...birds and one psycho rabbit that proceeded to do wind sprints back and forth in front of me.....well time to grunt/rattle....make some noise...all heck breaks loose from the scrape line area....thuddy/thuddy up and out walks a bull moose...he leaves....20 minutes later start rattling....hear the woods come alive....running towards me....a cow and calf moose....so after a little more siting decide to check the mock scrapes...area is busted up...by a bull moose...go figure...I need a hot shower...

So the area that I started my mock scrapes has a lot of bucks running around but only a handful of doe's...a 140 class 5x5 has been seriously scoped twice but the area has so much potential I will wait until next year for him.....another week left....these bucks on cam will get bigger plus I might have the opportunity next year in taking a new to humting fella out and would like to see him take a gooder...enjoying the sunrise/sets but not the -18 sit....Snotcicles are forming
