I walked up to them before dispatching them. Never had a chain break yet!

Awesome stuff! The grey one there seems to have a look on his face like he knows whats comming next LOL. Are those sets on a frozen creek or river? How do you funnel them to the fallen tree? What are you using for bait?

The blue/black is in a blind set. Placed the trap on a path that I've seen tracks on many times. The Brown was in a pee-post set. A bridger #5 wrapped in thin produce bag and bedded under thin layer of snow. Lots of malamute urine and scat for attractant but no baits

A scent post set is a very basic set for coyotes.....
Nice catch, Brian. What kind of reaction do you get from them as you approach...fight or flight....or is it the same as coyotes, and varies from animal to animal?

female but have used male before. All canids are attracted to pee-posts. Both wolves pulled away from me on the chains but bark howled at me.

Trapping wolves
A fellow had trouble trapping wolves until he was out with a wolf sized dog. He watched where the dogs feet were when the dog lifted his leg to pee on clump of grass or stick. Then buried trap exactly where the dogs feet were. Also watch which way the dog comes in from to pee at scent post. Should also work with coyote.

Curious
Brian,
What caliber and shot placement do you use when dispatching wolves?

Extending Wolf Trapping Season?
Wolf season ended here at the end of March. Must be longer up your way. I see you still had gear out on April 6th by the pic date. In any case good catch and for a good cause.
We had a great season and good luck to everyone on beavers.
