I saw it too, westbound on Yellowhead between Spruce and Stony. Don't know if I'd use the word "huge", but still a decent amount of bacon.

Default Wild boar

Saw the show earlier today on Discovery called the Pig bomb.It was about the population explosion of Non native Eurasian Wild boars in the southern US and all the problems they were causing. Not three hours later I'm on the way out to the brother in laws place,Hwy 16 ,couple kliks west of Campsite Rd,side of the west bound lane,a dead pig.Wild boar for sure, big ugly snout, tusks, course mane on it's back, might have been 300+ lbs.Took some video of it but don't have a clue on how to get it on here.

A bunch of years ago my ex bro-in-law hit a pig on the hiway out by wabumun...wrote off his jeep, and he got sued by the farmer. I don't think the farmer won.

Yeah I saw it as well when on the way back from Lac Ste Anne today... I don't know anything about boars but it looked pretty huge to me! If that's an "Average" one? Damn the things get big.

Unfortunately no pics as I was going the wrong way and was running short on time to make an appointment.

Yeah I saw that today as well heading out to Edson, I was in the far lane and didn't get a good glimpse at first but I thought it was a donkey at first... never would have guessed it was a Wild Boar... that thing was a freaking big pig.

Default cut off ears

I heard from a guy from a county office that when you bring in a pair of ears they will give you $50. They are trying to control these wild boars. Mind you this county in Two Hills no where near this one, but interesting if you want to go hunt wild boar and get a a little kick back.

he should have sued the farmer. Many of those cases are successful, and if I'm not mistaken, have a much higher success rate these days.

As far as the $50 reward... Don't you need the LSD of where you shot it as well as the landowner's written permission or something like that?

I've seen thousands of dead wild boars on the Interstate down in Georgia and Florida. Most are small ones, roughly the size of a black lab dog. They do vary quite a bit in size and colour, at least down there.

The Alberta boars... Not really a 'wild boar' as they are descendents of farmed, tame, domestic 'boars'. Shooting one running wild in the woods is not too far removed from paying the $200 and planking one at one of the farms. Having hunted 'Wild' boars that were a pure strain of German wild boar, imported and raised on a canned-hunt ranch, as well as 'Wild' feral boars near Orlando, I really don't see what all the fuss is about.

Something fun to do in Jan or Feb when nothing else is going on, I guess...

That looks like a hybrid pig. Part black, part light coloured, makes a warthog look like a beauty queen?
