I went through the same scenario a few years ago and settled on the Vortex Viper hds. I found them to be the best glass for the price. If I were to do it again, I would look gently used for sure.

Have a hunting friend that always says .... Buy it only once .. get the best you can the first time .... Zeiss , Leopold , used swaro ... that sorta thing .. no experience with Vortex.. the bushnell legend ED glass and elite are good .. have a look at the older Zeiss conquest ...

Vortex
The glass is great, the warranty is spectacular.

I bought a used pair that had been fallen on rocks. $23 CSD and 10 days later I received a brand new pair.

Good luck, some good glass out there reasonably priced
Bought a pair of these three years ago after reading dozens of reviews on birder forums and glad I did. Both my buddy and I looked at his Zeiss Conquests side by side and there was no discernible difference between the two of them.

I bought mine (10 x 42) out of the States and saved a fair bit of money.

I had a Leupold bino (10x50 Olympics)..after 15+ years of use, I had a eye piece holder crack. I got a new pair of the Mojaves as replacement covered by Leupold Warranty....Great set of new binos.

I think they range around $700-750.
The 10x42 are on sale at Cabelas for $100 off right now. For $529.00
