Default Help! Just broke my trigger guard!!!

Noted some condensation after sighting in my new savage model 11 lightweight hunter (detachable mag), pulled the action out of the stock to wipe it down. Before reassembling it, I noticed the front hole of the trigger guard, where the rear action screw goes, is completely cracked and almost ready to disintegrate anyone know of a metal replacement in stock here in Alberta?

Of course this had to happen right before a hunt, on Sunday, when everyone is closed.

I've always used a torque screwdriver on all my guns including this one. Looks like a poor design, having plastic in that part.

Knowing what gun it's for would help.

Plastic one is listed. Found on the savage forum, they say metal is available but have to call, of course closed right now. Hoping I can find one here, if not I'll be hoping it gets through the border before Christmas.

I used to wonder why the old guys hate plastic ("polymer" ...) on guns. Now I know.

I know I have a metal trigger guard for your application. Unfortunately, I know its hidden somewhere in my storage locker while I'm waiting for my house to sell and its going to stay there until I'm moved.

In the meantime, I'd try western gun parts in edmonton.

Thanks, I'll give them a call in the am.

For a temporary fix get some Gorrila brand super glue, it has a fine rubber powder in it like loctite black max, and if you have a hobby store close get some accellarator liquid for it. I've fixed some stuff this way that was very strong when done.

Will this fit? http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts...prod12994.aspx

It's metal. Brownells ships to Canada. Otherwise call up western gun parts in Edmonton.

I just got a metal set from Savage for the bottom bolt release models, it takes about two weeks. They will however overnight if you pay the extra shipping. I have a plastic trigger guard for the model 11 bottom release if you want a plastic replacement. I could also loan you a metal trigger guard to get you through the hunt. Are you looking for the one with the bottom bolt release or side bolt release?

Brownells is where I got mine as well. I swapped my Stevens 200 into a Boyds stock and got rid of that plastic crap guard it came with.

Thanks for the offer, got it sorted out with western for now, plastic replacement and I reinforced it. I'll order the metal one ASAP, no one has it in stock.
