Default Where do you get your Trees?

Hey Everyone,

I am just about to buy a few trees for the yard as our last ones were killed by a Hail storm. Where do most buy nice trees at a fair price.... Calgary or area?

I am thinking that I want something that grows fast and tall.... maybe towering aspens or something like that.

Thanks for help!

Check out the Saskatoon Farm. It's just south of you close to Okotoks.

What size of tree do you want to plant? If you want 3 yr seedlings try www.treetime.ca. They have a good selection and I think free shipping if you spend a certain amount of money. If you are looking for very hardy trees try Bow Point Nursery.
If you like the tower type of tree then try the Swedish aspen which in my opinion is better then the tower popular. I have been told they have less aggressive roots but I'm not sure if they are chinook proof.

Shooter, the Swedish Columnar Aspen is probably the tree I recommend the most. Roots are not to be worried about, the grow very fast yet occupy very little space. They can winter kill, but I have been seeing less and less of that each year. A very good pick.

Talk to Dale or Tracy at....

Or Ken and Pam at....
http://www.bowpointnursery.com/

Good luck, and any other questions you may have please ask.

Let me know what you decide. We may also be in the market for 1 or possibly 2 trees. We have a few of those Swedish Columnar Aspens and they do grow like crazy. We have a Dakota Birch that I'm not sure if it is gonna come back this year - hope so as I really like the tree.

how much land do you have, I think you can apply for the shelterbelt program if you have over 5 acres then you can getr as many as you want, but the order for this year is done. You will have to order for next year. do a search for shelterbelt program and you should be able to print off an application.

Good luck
Brad

Thanks for all the help guys. I took what Tree & Duk mentioned to heart and ordered four Swedish Columnar Aspens. I got 10 footers. I was looking for a tree that grows quickly and by the sounds of things, they do just that.

Thanks again.
