Default Hwy 3 and dead deerarama

I guessnthis is kindof a rant. People need to slow down going through da Pass and b4. I drove back from work yesterday and saw no less than 4 new roadkills. The hills have alot of snow and crust and weve got several very big herds of mulies and wt foraging very close to the hwy, especially by the weigh scales. And the roadkills are getting pretty intense

Someone notify PETA. Maybe they'll come out. It be funny to see protesters get blown to sask.

Lots of deer and antelope getting hammered on the roads. Too much snow in the fields so food is tough and coyote predation is really tough. Antelope herds on the road and won't leave because of a half dozen coyotes an the fence line.

i know the feeling. the 41 miles down the highway to my place I was driving and saw 10 fresh dead deer and 2 elk. Doesn't help with the amount of animals that winter in the valley! At least the birds coyotes and wolves get somethin to eat without having to kill any livestock.

If people would just drive the speed limit, a lot of problems would solved.

You should run on the section of hwy 3 from Cranbrook to Elko... I see at least 3 road kill a day, 6 days a week. I have seen up to 16 in one day. The manager of the company I work for has hit at least 9 deer that I know of... there must be more that he hasn't said anything about. Speed does kill all you need to do is drop down to about 90-95 and the difference in time you have to spot and react is amazing, especially at night. If you can't stop in the length that your headlights light up either you need to slow down or get better lights.

The highway here runs right through the middle of the ungulates winter ranges. The year they started with the new brine solutions to prevent black ice the deer were really hit hard. You would see them standing on the road licking the salt solution off the road.

I spent a couple weeks just outside Wardner in July 2009. Couldn't believe the number of whitetails with fawns I saw.

Default Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford the worst

That stretch has got to be the worst by far.

I have had too many close calls w/elk and moose.

Lots of dead elk there. A buddy of mine survived a moose hit in a K-car. He survived by inches.

I dont think hunters will ever dispatch as much as the roads around here do.
