Vv n560 works well for the Berger 115’s in a 26” barrel

Default First site in!

Well wind was mild this morning so took the Browning out! I was somewhat rusty shooting for the first time since Last November! I also found shooting the B-78 different, as I have been a bolt guy for along time. But a very nice tight rifle, well balanced, and a pleasure to shoot. Once I got it on paper, and shooting, it became to come together. This target is with factory ammo. which it did very well. 2 touching and the rest is me pulling the bullet! 100 yds.

Well I finished off my IMR4831 and switched over to Hodgdon so I had to re-work my loads. I haven't played around with the 90gr HP's but the 100gr ballistic tips are shooting just over 1/2 MOA at 3050fps consistently over-top 52.5gr.

I found an old box of 120gr Hornady HP's that I have at 3/4MOA at 3020fps over-top 54gr.

I have both loads seated so that they juuuuuuuust fit the detachable mag, not sure if I want to play with them any much more. I found that my SD was a lot more consistent with the Hodgdon powder compared to IMR. MOA is consistent at 300yds so I have no reservations about using either load for deer this year.

Geez, let me know if you feel like getting rid of the 700...

If you can hold moa at 300 then I probably wouldn't play around with them either. Glad it worked out so well.

The 700 would be the better donor rifle for a build. Just needs a barrel a trigger and some blueprinting and your all set for what ever long action caliber you want.

Well going to give it a go! Put the scope on the rifle and bore sited in in at 50 yds!
good tigger on it! I think the Browning is the one to go! Not that it's a bad rifle! just not for me! The setup of the rifle needs getting used to!

What's the range you have killed your elk and moose at?
Shot placement?

I shot my first bull elk with a 25-06 350 yards chest shot Used a 100gr scirocco bullet was a clean pass through dropped the elk like a sack of potatoes he did get up stagger about 30 mor yards and pile up after that It was time to get the knives out. I haven’t shot a moose yet but I wouldn’t hesitate using 25-06 on moose or elk.

Badbrass, nice shooting! But step away from the single shot.
Tell us about the model 700!

Good call.
Yeah if I wanted to wait for people I'd play golf.

could this be 115gr ballistic tip?, don't see a 120 ballistic tip on the webpage, section density .249 and a .453 are good bc/sd numbers, will buck wind, keep velocity, and penetrate well, i believe you, i'm betting you've recovered a few bullets in the bigger critters?, maybe 50-60% weight retention with adequate penetration and gobs of internal damage, especially on the bigger critters, probably lots of pass through with less internal damage on the smaller ones...my guess anyway
