Default Hiawatha 410

I just picked up a 410 Hiawatha. There are no markings on chamber length. I am wondering if it is safe to try 3 inch shells?
Thank you.

Single shot? I don't think 3" shells will fit if it's chambered for 2 3/4".

Default I certainly wouldnt

If chamber is only 2 1/2 you may still get 3 inch to fit but because it is in forcing cone there is no where for shell to open up. Get a competent gunsmith to look at it for you. I had a barrel burst 2 or 3 years ago because a wad remained in a semi auto 28 gauge and the action loaded it and i fired. Ears rang for 2 days and the burst was just inches ahead of my forward hand.
