Default skinny wolf

Pulled snares finally the other day and was greated by this bruiser laying dead and by the look of things ,he hardly struggled before he choked out!I am a firm believer in using rubber gloves when setting up,but a week prior I had forgotten my gloves and came across the snare knocked over,so picked up with bare hands and reset. So by the snow and lack of tracks he was caught following day.Underbelly totally void of any fur,and definitely an old timer as half his grinding teeth gone and fangs rounded off.

Kinda what I battled all winter on my wolves. I was 3 good ones out of ten. This was the 4th most decent one and really was a waste of my time to skin. I thought I might be able to use some of him though. The rest were way worse

Mike, what kind of snare did you take your wolf in?

congrats on the wolf
Over half of mine had bad fur, and all but two were in poor shape body wise very lean no fat at all
Never seen a deer on the line all winter only saw three sets of tracks, and not very many moose
Going to be slim pickings for big game hunters this fall

majority of the time I use 3-32 7by7 with 1/8 camlock complete with killspring and trigger. The wolf in the pic was taken with same setup but with 1/8 cable. This wolf hardly disturbed the ground/snow when he was caught as the snare definately did the job and quick!
