Default Ice-fishing near Calgary?

I was wondering if anybody could give me some tips on good places to go ice-fishing near Calgary? I live in the far south of Calgary and looking for good places within 1 hour drive or less. I am new to the area so don't really know where to go.

I'm not too picky on the kind of fish. Wouldn't mind a place where the fishing is reasonably good, as I would like to take my kid.

Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Boba.

  • Pine Coulee(W of Stavely)- pike, walleye, ling
  • MacGregor (W and S of Milo)- pike, walleye, ling, whitefish
  • Travers(E of Champion)- pike, walleye, ling, whitefish, perch
  • Badger(E of Lomond)- pike, whitefish, have also seen a few walleye, perch, etc
  • Chain Lakes (S of Longview, W of Nanton)- stocked rainbows, suckers
  • Crawling Valley (NW of Bassano)- pike, walleye, whitefish, ling, perch
  • Twin Valley (W of Champion OR NE of Stavely)- pike, not sure of other species...
  • Plus many more...

Probably missing a species or two on a couple of the reservoirs, but they pretty much all hold the same kinds of fish. Just check the regs and it usually gives you a good idea of what each lake holds. And grab your self a bathymetric map from the SRD website and away you go!

Good luck!
