Smile stillwater fly swap

Hey guys and gals, anyone interested in a stillwater fly swap? Did a few last winter and I think they went well. I'm thinking 8-10 tiers with a finish date of the end of January. Let me know as I know there's another one going on.

I'll probably do a traditional Scottish still water fly like a blue zulu or a kate mclaren, or a bibbio.

my swap is just wrapping up. if you have room for one more I have a decent calibaetis pattern. I wouldn't mind just tying and not worrying about where everyone's flies are at and whether ibwill be able to send them all back by the deadline lmao

OK guys, I've sent out the address and recounted. There are 12 of us.
If anyone just wants to meet up instead of shipping the flies that's cool, I work all over Calgary and Okotoks.

Started tying my flies today. I'm tying some damsels for this swap. Are you wanting us to include a self addressed stamped envelope. So you don't have to pay all the shipping?

Here's a picture of the first few I have tied today.

Got PM'd couple questions so I figured its best to clarify here.
There are 12 participants so each tyer will send 12 flies and will then receive 12 flies back including 1 of their own. It's easier for sorting this way. Each tyer should send a self addressed stamped envelope with their flies. We've set a deadline of end of January so try and get your flies in before then, if they all get here earlier I will send them back earlier.
Several of the tyers in this swap were involved in my swaps last year and already know the protocol so this is more info for the newbies.

I'm going to tie a black sparkle leech (size 8)that was deadly this past summer in Beaver and Bullshead reservoir, and also worked pretty good in the Bow some days.

You've chosen quite an elaborate fly for the swap. And you tie it very well.
How does the ostrich herl tail hold up?

thank you! it tends to get a little shredded after a few fish but still fishes just as good. its not the ideal tailing material but it just looks awesome on the fly

Default Hot head Seal bugger

image.jpg

I blend a mixture of olive seal fur, olive rabbit dubbing and olive ice dubbing for the body. Olive ultra wire for the ribbing. Olive marabou for the tail.

Mine are done. Just need to drop them off
