Smile No more hand augers

I purchased an adaptor for my hand auger and I’m in love with it. I drilled 25 holes through 8 inches on ice on a single DeWalt battery and it’s easy to bring spares batteries. Maybe I need the exercise but I like being lazy and using a power drill on your auger, leaves you more time for fishing. The adapter cost me $10 so it was well worth it. I’m just using it on a 6” auger so I don’t know how it would work on a 10” auger.

Be interesting to see how many holes and how long it takes when the ice is 2 ft and thicker.

Don't think it would be much fun trying it on a 10 inch

There was a thread of this topic in the forum if u search.
I built one last year with Ridgid drill and 8" auger.
I drilled more than 8 holes on around 60cm ice, the battery had lots of juice remained. Never tried a battery out, coz I don't need to. But I think 15 holes should b no problem.

My drill and batteries registered with life time warranty, so I don't think i would need hand auger any more. Would rec'd this setup.

Good for you!
I'm still using my 6" Swede-bore, and the reason I do not buy power auger, is the exercise. After 50's, I'm looking for more hard work, when I'm outdoors. I agree about saving time for more fishing. Nice rainbow BTW!

I replaced my Ni Cad cordless drill with a lithium ion, and the Lithiums perform poorly in the cold. If you could keep the batteries warm inside your jacket or something they may work. Just food for thought.

I picked up an adapter at Wal Mart, it works awesome, once the ice gets really thick it isnt as great but I have old dewalt batteries. I use mine on an 6 inch.

I tried the drill adapter last year, said frig it and bought the gas auger.

8" normark auger, 18 volt drill, couldn't keep the damn thing straight and ended up basically drilling 10" holes with it lol.

x2 The drill/adapter works easier than hand drilling but it took a lot longer. Once I tried it I was ready to buy a power auger.
