Default Lapua Testing Rimfires

Just watched a video based on the US though I think.

Lapua has a service. You book a time and or send in your .22lr. They clamp the barreled action into a vice and test it with multiple lots of ammo at 50 and 100 to find what shoots best in a tunnel with no wind etc.

Then they sell you that specific lot of ammo. To make this worthwhile, how many rounds do you think they make you buy? Or maybe you pay for the service separately and the ammo afterwards.

Rim fire competion must be going to another level!

I believe Korth is running a service like that, if it isn't that one, Eley ammo I think. You'd have to ask them. They shot out a note about it a few yrs back.

This is not a new concept, certain dealers were doing this 50 years ago for Eley and CIL ammunition . You shipped your rifle to them and they did the test on several different lots of ammo and then gave you the test results and sold you two cases of that particular lot of ammo

Couldn't bring myself to shoot $20 per box 22 LR ammo at gophers, $15 per box for my 17 hmr is bad enough

Interesting, never knew. Sounds like a good service for target shooters to use all while providing large quantities of that particular lot. Shoots good, buy 10,000 rounds.

I normally buy by the brick, so probably every time I buy a new brick, it most likely would be a new lot and may or may not shoot as good as originally.

Yeah, the guys using these services are SFC and NRA shooting national match levels in 3P match rifle and rimfire BR
Even for local shoots I would not bother with it costwise

We used to ship our Anschutz 1827s to Ulm, Germany to place in a freezer at -20 Celsius and test with various Eley, Federal GM Match, Fiocchi and Lapua Polar lots of ammo.

This was for Biathlon rifles in the early 2000s.

Pretty cool service really, to think that you are pairing your barrel with the most accurate ammo possible at sub-zero temperatures.

I would typically then purchase 10,000-15,000 rounds for the year.
