Default Best .243 Bolt Action Rifle for Under a Grand

Looking at buying a .243 bolt action rifle for coyote hunting as well as the occasional deer. Must have a removable magazine though as I am always in and out of the truck. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,
FOTF

Sako A7?

T/C Icon?

Could also put together a decent rifle starting with a Rem 700 SPS for that price.

For just the rifle, Used Kimber or going another route buy a model 11 Savage and put an aftermarket stock on it and buy a better trigger.

Rifle and scope, Weatherby Vanguard S2 Paired with a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 (just over a grand but well worth it.)

Default x bolt

Last winter I purchased a rem sps in .243 and right out of the box it would not cycle the second round into the chamber ever I had to buy a new mag to use the gun ! I was a rem man but the crap they are putting out is a joke! Just bought my nephew a micro midas in .243 its a tack driver and is no more in price then a sps you have to put more money into just for it to work x bolt my choice

i just purchased an x bolt in 7-08. I am very happy with it. As accurate as you could expect any hunting rifle to be. So like most of us, we are fans of something we have.

However, for a light rifle under a grand, I would seriously consider a blued Tikka T3 Lite and then garbage the factory stock and put on a Bell and Carlson stock for $299 from Prophet River. You would have a super cool rifle that will be undoubtedly accurate, and people at the range will ask you "What kind of rifle is that?"

My .02 cents.

CZ550. Custom Mauser short action, range tested sub MOA accuracy, optional set trigger, integrated dovetail bases. You get a lot for the price.

Tikka T3 if you dont have future plans on doing much to the rifle

Remington 700 or Model 7 if plans are to customize

Browning a-bolt composite makes a great coyote rig. Light weight for carrying around. Hand loaded rounds and it shoots .5" all day.
Second choice would be a tikka t3.

Default Savage M10 Predator in 243

I never thought I would say this but I don't think many custom rifles will out shoot these guns. They are well made and balanced, nice action, nice 4 round mags, and the price is right. I own a couple of customs and this thing is right there in accuracy and handling.

i have an xbolt in 243 and a 700 in 7mm08 , both are wicked accurate and light ,the xbolt is a little smoother but either one would get my vote.
