OK confess......who has had scope eye before? Me bout 3 or 4 years back Leupold VX3. 338 Win Mag. Was not a bad one, but my first and only. hehe

I had one about 35 years ago. 300 win mag and a scope that did not have a lot of eye relief and a bad habit that I had allowed to creep into my form, Shooting prone with a bipod I started to crawl over my stock. Cut to the bone on my brow and I bled more than the whitetail deer I killed.

I've seen at few at the range one was very bloody, never had it happen to me.

Too looosey goosy on the 7STW once and when I touched off the scope wacked me but I had a toque on so no broken skin but a wake up call for sure.

I've had my Tikka 7mm Rem Mag kiss my glasses a few times. I changed it the scope for one with better eye relief and I'm not even coming close now

Not me, personally. But a friend at the time wanted to try my deer rifle. (.308 win).

Nope. But seen a couple hunting buddies take one over the years. One fellow got both eyes on two consecutive shots at a white tailed deer. I've never laughed so hard in my life.

When you start mounting scopes correctly and shooting properly you'll quit hitting yourself in the face.

I had 22/20ga. Savage over/under with a scope on it. No eye relief on a 22 scope lol, forgot i had it set on 20 gauge,,,ouch,,,,32 years ago and never done it since

The very first time I ever shot through a scope, Buddy brought his Dads 270 out shooting gophers.

I was a young man, maybe 17 or 18. Had been shooting 300 win mag, 300 WBY, 30-06 and never had an issue. I used to go out with a buddy quite a bit to the Sibald Creek range, so it was a regular occurrence.

A friend of the family, older guy, found out we were going to the range and asked us next time we go, could we take his deer rifle out to sight it in. So we happily obliged.

The rifle was a 7mm-08 with two triggers. Guy showed us how it works and warned us it had a hair trigger.

He was right, I set it up, got her settled, cocked the trigger and as I went to slide my finger around to the front trigger the thing went off and came up and took a bite out of me. lol.

We were pretty careful after that. lol.

First time shooting a 300 win mag.

Head wounds always bleed profusely.

Hard kickers, 338, 45-70 & 7 STW all shooting prone with poor position.

I've been bumped a few times but never actually been hurt. Lots of guys will remember back to the scopes of old and how bad the eye relief was on some of them. My last close call was with a little 270 I was fixing for a friend. Can't remember what brand scope it had but it was an old creeper and I dam near had to put my eye lashes on it to see the target. Since it was for his kid I told him to get a new scope which he didn't want to do...until he smacked himself with it the next day.

First rifle was a .270 got smoked pretty good but eye didn't go black luckily! Spoke to a Canadian military sniper one day about it, and he said it happens all the time even to vet, and competition shooters!

Never happened, but during my sighting-in session prior to this season I got "ballcapped", where the recoil took the top elevation turret into the brim of my cap. That didn't feel great.

Also I get shotgun cheek every time out. EVERY time out.

Knock on wood, but nothing yet. Got sloppy in my form sighting in a couple years ago on my 270 and felt it just brush my eyebrow. Smartened me up real quick. I've already got enough scars above my eyes!

Retired neighbor offered to refinish the stock on my old Savage Model 110 in 7mm rem mag about 20 years ago. Old Weaver 4X
In hindsight I think the stock sat in his humid garage a few months and when he dropped the action back in, the recoil lug did not fit properly and I did not pay enough attention until after it bit me.

It was a bitter cold day and I was hunting solo and I took a shot at a moose from a poor snow covered log very slippery downhill shooting position deep in WMU 308. I missed and got the Mother of All Scope Bites.Split my eyebrow so badly it took 10 stiches to close after my bloodied one hour drive to Black Diamond Hospital.

I think I still have the headache

Only ever had one close call, felt the scope brush my brow. That rifle is getting a different scope soon.
