AO meet n greet- Prince Rupert in August or September
Looks like a lot of us are going to be there, Lonewolf and I are there from the 3rd to the 18th, Travis is guiding there, Tom is bringing his Striper, plus more. Let's all pick a mutual date and meet up for supper at Breakers after dropping off the catches. We can park free at Cow Bay, and Breakers never disappoints.
Should be great fun

Good Job Ken,
We did not get any Springs over 10 lbs and a few small Coho, very slow on the salmon front for us, we salmon fished from the June 26 to July 1st. After that we hit the bottom fish and did really good compared to passed years.
We also ended up with a few crabs and a couple of good feeds of prawns.
The last week of our trip we spent a few days in the Khutzeymateen watching Grizzly bears from our boat. And a day prawning in Union Inlet.
As always a great trip.

Thanks 13mile
Still sorting through the pics
The prawns were great and larger than most we have caught, keep in mind i wear a size 17 ring so my fat fingers don't really show the size in the pics.
We took a ton of videos of the bears, we spent 1 day there and saw 6 different bears eating grass a long the shore. A sow and 3 cubs, a sow who's cub was eaten the day before by a boar and the cub eating boar, also another one we briefly caught a glimpse of.

Hello everyone,
this is my first post here at AO. Yesterday was my last day at Rupert, im from the 403 area. The weather was good and the fish were biting, i didn't get any monsters but got into the Salmon and Halibut pretty easily. Some Cod Ling and Snapper. Lots of beautiful wildlife shots, we saw porpoises, eagles and sea lions. and caught a few whale jumps! And an octopus of course.
Springs at 18"
Halibut up to 90cm
Octopus
Snapper
Dungeones Crabs
Cod Ling

Every single time I have gone there, Avery has been my go to place. Every time. This time though, there was not a thing at all, everyone said the same. I always go to Humpback too, but heard it was dead. One day at Dundas 13 lodge boats landed a single salmon. 13!!!
We looked for the yacht clubs, and one day 25 boats were trolling cutter. We slammed coho there, and I caught a 24lb spring. No lings though, too windy.
We did well on Coho, got some very nice fish and then one day the Springs showed up.
I was fishing out at Hudson Bay channel for Hali, and was told that Prince Lebo Island was the place to go. Right away 3 springs in a row, smallest was 22 biggest 30.
I was just dying to go back, but needed my over-halibut and we just ran out of weather. We left day before yesterday because the weather forecast showed almost a week of south wind, which absolutely sucks there. There just is nowhere to go hide out of the weather with south wind.
We had an awesome week, way more flat calm days than I have ever seen, and knocked 15 species off the list including Spring, Coho, Pink salmon, red octopus, halibut, haddock, ling, sablefish, quilllback, 2 other rock cod including a very big marbled, a huge wolf eel, dungeness and red rock crab and a starfish.
I still have yet to land a ling and a yelloweye, still may gone in august or september.
Prince Lebo, Zayas and celestrial reef are on the list for sure.
It was a very amusing trip, young guy caught a very very nice coho reeling up a huge hali rig, like the crab I caught doing the same.
Amazing trip.
I wish I could have met up with you guys there, sharing spots and secrets is always a good time. We saw a window before the fit hit the shan and took it, got out of Dodge literally.

Thanks for the report Ken. I heard the same thing about cutter and turning on at Dundas. Never know till you get there where they will be and what the wind will allow a guy to do. I'm hoping the fish will be in close around humpback or global when we arrive.
I also hope to get to price leboo aswell my wife got a 254 lb Hali there last year.Talk about panic in a boat!!! Wow. and Edith is a real pretty place to stay close by.
We also fished Zayas last year but didn't really know where to go,tried a few spots on the north side and nothing so we headed straight north of it to Devils rock and got into some nice snapper and ling worth a run out there on a calm day.
I will post a report when we return.

This might have something to do with poor Chinook fishing out in the big water, but this is just the Skeena, I don't think all the rivers are horribly mismanaged with big commercial outfits plugging the mouth and Indian nets everywhere, like the skeena has?
