6.5 prc
can I get some insight or opinions on the 6.5 PRC round. I'm looking at buying a Christensen Arms 6.5 Ridgeline PRC and was wondering if anyone had experience with that round.
Thoughts ?

Ballistics are virtually identical to a 6.5x284
And a 6.5x284 is awesome

I have brass, dies, bullets and factory ammo, just waiting for the gun to arrive, am sure it is going to be a great round, the reviews are good and everything points that way.

I sort of lucked onto 100 brass from ADG, supposed to be great brass, also got 120 rounds factory loads 143 gr ELDX hornady so should be good for a while, Cabelas had some hornady brass a couple weeks ago

What's your purpose for the rifle?
The 6.5PRC seems like a great round in the 6.5mm size of bullet. Also do you plan to reload? I don't know how many options there will be for 6.5PRC ammunition compared to say 6.5CM.

I just bought a Sauer 100 Ceratech in 6.5 PRC and I am having the opposite problem. I have the rifle, brass, powder bullets, but can't find my dies yet. Looking forward to seeing how it shoots. I have seen Hornady brass available in quite a few places. However I have only seen one set of dies (Hornady) and I am not that fond of Hornady dies.

I don't know if they do mail order but give Flys Etc a call. They have been all over the PRC cartridge and should have what you need.

I'd take Hornady Match Dies over RCBS in most cases.
X-Reload is showing Redding 6.5 PRC series A dies in stock.

Thanks, thats good to hear.
The 20 rounds I started with are on their 10 loading with no signs of stretch at the web.
I found 20 more once fired.
If it's showing up at Cabelas that's a good sign, they usually have a very limited supply of anything.

The ADG brass is thicker. When reloading don’t use same loads in ADG as hornady. Prob drop load around 1gr in ADG.

Thanks for the tip, I usually start about 5 grs below max and work up in .5 gr increments watching for signs of pressure and of course accuracy

I have the MPR in that cartridge. No regrets.
I would suspect that in a lighter package this round could get a little punchy, depending on the shooter of course.

How you liking it. What ammo/bullets ya shooting? Got a buddy ordering a MPR. I got lots of 156 and 144 Berger’s. I 156 in my Ridgeline, haven’t got the new custom rifle yet.

Great cartridge. 140gr 6.5mm bullets at 3000fps works great.
I would skip owning anything Christensen Arms though. Lots of money for not a lot.

Finally got it in and rigged up and the range opened again, was out yesterday starting to do the barrel break in, plan to head out this morning to finish it and shoot some groups to check some handloads as well.
It's a christensen arms mesa long range in 6.5 PRC I was shooting factory hornady precision hunter 143gr ELDX, had one group at .536" hope my hand loads shoot that good. The other 4 groups that I shot after I had things set up averaged about an inch

I have 3 different loads out of the 12 I tested this morning that show promise, all are with the berger 135 gr classic hunter, 58.0 gr RL25 .601", 58.0 gr Retumbo .754", and 53.5 gr H4831 .732, the RL 25 is about 100 FPS faster than the other 2 loads @ 3100 FPS.
It gives me a starting point and will play some more with all 3 of those loads, the load of 59.0 gr RL 25 had 2 holes touching but the 3rd was my fault, I think I pulled is right about 1 1/2" will load a few more of those and retest them.
Gives me something to do during this covid crap
