Default Finally caved in.

Read the title of this thread when it first started and I thought yea yea yea another “flavor of the day” thing that someone is pushing and not once did I open it up. The thread kept popping up and me being on the stubborn side said nope not doing it and scrolled on by. Well after 3 months and roughly 10 days I caved and had to click on it and when I did I read it from beginning to end. Then it was off to the internet to do some more checking. Threw the idea out to the wife and she said that she had heard of it before and together we checked it out some more (she’s my google guru, always find things hidden in corners)and we decided to give it a go.
Started last Saturday and it took me about 3 days to get into Keto. I find I have to drink lots of water otherwise I start getting skull cramps. Cravings for sugar and food are almost gone. Sleeping like a log. We don’t have a weigh scale so the app that I have I entered all my measurements. Going to wait a month then measure again.
It’s a whole different deal being able to eat fat. Going to camp for 10 days and I’m hoping that the food selection will be ok. I will stay with it though and deal with what’s available. It’s fairly warm inside the mountain so I’m going take lots of electrolytes and ground up Pink Himalayan salt to put in my water. My goal is to get down to 190 lbs. Starting at 240.
All because I didn’t scroll by.

You can do it easier than you think. I started at 240 also , and am now 195.
That was over 3 months.
Camping is a lot of meat over the fire, so I'm good with that. I just add in veggies , and snack on nuts . No more chips and beer , lol.

I lost 40 lbs then went off keto for a month. Didn’t sleep as well ... however portion control stayed steady and I kept the weight off. Back on revised keto however not adding lots of extra fat. Taking more fibre also.

Down another two pounds in 3 days.

Default Who is on the KETO diet right now...

I’ve been off keto for over a month, but still doing my low carb plan and still losing. Now at 50lbs lost since January. Down to 205 from 255! I still have a small but stubborn pouch on the gut and some flab under my chin that won’t go away. I’m told continuing my cardio will take care of that, just slowly. So on I go. My wife and her friends are just beside themselves with my results.

Oh and the reason for starting this arrived early on June 4th, a baby boy at 7lbs 12 ounces

Been on it now about 7 weeks and down 40 pounds so far. Went into the doctor for my 3 month check up (type 2 Diabetic and high blood pressure) and my AIC has dropped from 6.9 to 6.4 which is a huge difference. The doctor was very pleased and suggested if it drops further he will adjust my prescriptions accordingly. I guess some of my other results were also better than before , kidneys etc.

This last week the weight loss has kind of plateaued which is to be expected and various intervals and then it should start to drop again.

Feeling much better.

Started three weeks ago but I can’t honesty say how much I have lost.... Probably because the scale number was “errrr”. LOL. Didn’t know errrr was a measurement!

I think I gotta try Keto quick, downloaded the CM app, researched, spoke to a pal doing it for a few months (he lost 55lbs) and haven’t looked back. Feel energized, clear headed, Hips and knees are not killing me (less inflammation) I’m not miserable and my scale now registers a real number so I have a starting point now. My goal weight is most of you guys starting weight (250lbs). Making preplanned meals etc. Fantastic dishes to make online too.

Heard this keto joke... how do you know when someone is on keto? You don’t have to, they will tell you!

Good luck all

Update:
Started this journey on Jan. 15th weighing 255. Stopped following keto on April 15th weighing around 215 I think it was, but not wanting to go back to my old ways I kept a low carb diet going; though I don’t consider it a diet. It’s just how I eat now. And I upped my exercise, which was pretty easy with my new low weight.
Anyways, I’m now at 191 and holding for a few weeks and couldn’t be happier. After being over weight for around 12-15 years, I’m wearing medium shirts now, and size 32 waist jeans. That’s down from XXL shirts and 44 waist jeans in January.
Keep going folks!
Here’s a before and after, these pics were 8 months apart!

How many here added the intermittent fast 16/8 to their Keto plan?

60 lbs. now since the first week of March 2019, 10 more to go then find a balance in the plan. I've seen where people get freaked if they don't lose every day - a stall they call it. I had that more than once but stuck with it and the weight came off again. Too many watch the scale on a daily basis I think.

What accounts for the difference between those #'s and what is stated above?
Seems like the above just increases fat.

I would run with the ketogains macros and calculate your body fat using the navy method. The idea is not to starve yourself but run a caloric deficit. I ran 20 percent deficit.

Keto works, I think it works for almost everyone. However one small word of caution....I've been on it for probably a year or so, and combined it with a 8 hour eating period per day. I wasn't really trying to loose weight, I was only 165lb(5'10) so didn't feel I needed to, but lost 15+ lbs anyway! I'm actually actively trying to gain weight for the first time ever, so had to add a bit of carbs. Also, I became seriously depressed for a while there, and that is very unlike me. I couldn't figure out wtf was wrong with me, but since adding a bit of carbs back to my diet I'm pretty well back to normal. Might have been just my experience, or the combination of Keto/ intermittent fasting was not providing what I needed, but something to keep an eye on.

Just an update. I stalled for 2 weeks and dropped the next week, almost was loosing faith in the system than bam down the weight went. Started at 351 lbs down to 277 so far. I am a large 6'5" and for me my ideal weight is about 220 so I still have 57 lbs left. My goal is to be at 220 at Christmas. Keep up the good work guys, you can do it.

Another thing for those on the KETO lifestyle, KETO is NOT all about losing weight. There is this thing called NSV (non scale victories). You may not lose weight BUT you can feel better, blood work better, inflammation less, a bunch of other little victories. PSA for today

Absolutely. My blood work is way better and I sleep like a log now. Camped out near a lake in a tent a few weeks ago that was about 100 yards from a railroad crossing. Been going there for years and every time the train rolled by I would wake up, about 5-6 times a night.

Not this time, was there for 4 nights and never heard the train once. My head hits the pillow and I am dead to the world within 5 minutes. Can't wait to get down to my goal and see if I can get off the CPAP machine for the first time in 8 years.
