Default Rainbow northern pike?

I wanted to post this picture of a northern pike my sister caught in Saskatchewan this weekend. The picture doesn't show it too well but the pike almost blue in color and had a iridescent shimer like a rainbow trout. The shimer was clearly blue to purple. I've never seen a pike like this is it some rare color they can be or some hybrid. I know they can hybrid with musky but it doesn't look like that and I don't think musky come this far west. Has anyone else caught a pike like this?

I am going to guess it a silver pike color phase but hard to tell with the pic

Google pics of silver pike and see if it’s a match

Looks like it matchs. I was looking up blue pike before and getting a completely different fish

Yep. Long time ago, before digital cameras.

There are a few lakes that have them, typically very cold clear shield or mountains. And they usually taste great

Every once in a while someone pulls out a silver pike from a random spot. So I think in the right environmental conditions (no weeds to hide in), it’s an uncommon but not rare mutation, that can become an advantageous trait and be passed on at a higher frequency. Sort of like color phase bears.

I caught one about 20 years ago in a shallow weedy chain of lakes in Sask. It was a very cool catch, mine quite purple looking.
