Default Directions to forestry trunk road. Please help

Hi this is my first post in the forum but I've browsed it many times before.
I'm planning a trip on the 26th but I need help finding the road.
I will be coming from edmonton and driving to nordegg.
I need help finding the road from nordegg if someone would be so kind to help.

A few other questions as well:

Random camping is allowed?
Firearm discharge allowed?
Use of dead wood for fire?
Any good spots you would like to share?

Thank you for your help.

Trunk road is just a km or two west of nordeg, just watch for the signs. And yes to all your other questions.

Thank you, I had no idea it was that close to nordegg I thought I would be driving for a while, usually when that happens I always miss my turn.

make sure you clean up your garbage (and shell casings) and have a safe backdrop when you shoot!

Also, go pick up a Backroad Mapbook from Cambodian tire or your local fishing store. They're awesome.

734 is the forestry trunk road. Some good camping spots just as you cross the NSR

Default Trunk road

And be prepared to spend the night in the bush if you have to. Not much for cell service, most of the road is really not maintained that well, and if you plant your unit in the rhubarb someone might not come around for a few days. Better than wondering off down the road in grizz country looking for help. They're out and will be looking for an easy meal with this long winter. Still 2 feet of snow or more in the shady areas.

Safe travels and watch for logging trucks!

If you're scared of heights, hairpin corners, and such, don't venture to the Corkscrew Mtn area a few k's up the road. Darn scary road especially if meeting somebody on a bend. You would definately need more underwear and if you pull a trailer its even more scary. Been there and it isn't fun.

Yes it did.
Friendly reminders are always good, even to the most experienced.

Don't forget TP, good lighter(s) and the days paper.

I always buy the days paper before camping, makes for a good read and fire starter.

You can also access the forestry trunk road from Rocky Mountain House if that interests you.

Keep your eyes peeled for ANYTHING unusual, there is a woman missing out there. At least, her car was found there and no one has seen or heard anything.

Just before the turnoff, when travelling west you will see a green sign with directions for Banff (straight ahead) or Edson (North). The trunk road is the next intersection (labeled Hwy 734).

I am curious, besides driving west on Hi-way #11 from Rocky to Nordegg then turning north or south onto the truck road, where else do access it from RMH?

You can access it on hwy 752, past cow lake, and head stright out, you will t intersect with it. Or you can go up the north fork road off of 752 and you will intersect with it.

hundreds of places to access the forestry trunk
if you just want to get to nordegg, better off with david thompson hwy at red deer.
the forestry trunk is a bit slower and with the logging, better be carefull.

if you really want to do it, head west on yellowhead, south on rge road 150(a little after hwy32), head west on elk river road(it will be at the end of the road), and south on forestry trunk(pretty much the only stop on that road)

you ca't really mess it up. i suggest you fill your vehicle before you get there, i usually carry 2 jerry cans but its not an absolute necessity,i just feel safer that way. if you expect to get gas in the area, you might have a surprise. i dont know about nordegg but i can confirm that robb and mercoal don't have any gas. . . . . .i had to use the jerry can

i don't know how muddy it will be out there. might want to chek that out.

X2!!!!! Unfortunate that the Robb store is for sale and they quit supplying fuel there. Since they quit selling fuel i have had to fuel strategize for my hunts out that way....

I do a lot of camping down the 752 from Rocky, just after the husky ram river plant turnoff all the way down until you hit the trunk road there are a lot of nice spots right along the road. When you hit the trunk road T intersection you can head right towards ram falls and all the way to the west side of Nordegg. If you go left you will hit corkscrew mountain (not for the faint of heart) especially when pulling a camper, this way will take you pretty much right to Caroline.

jeez, people are getting nailed on this thread for anything that isn't EXACTLY what the OP asked for

Edit: Apologies if I came off a bit obnoxious, but if there's 2 things I hate it's litterers and people with poor gun safety. Gives the rest of us a bad name.

I'm sure the OP probably didn't need a reminder, but some people do.
