Default Sources required for article - wild boar

Hey all,

(Moderators, I placed this here because it’s not entirely hunting specific, but please move if you feel I have selected the wrong forum.)

I’m writing an article on the wild boar situation in Alberta and Sask., and I am looking for land owners, outdoorspeople and hunters who have direct experience with them.

Also looking for anyone who may have gone on one of those crazy Texas hunts for wild boar.

If interested, please send me a PM that summarizes your experience. I will be needing to contact people by telephone tomorrow and Saturday for brief interviews.

I am also curious how folks feel abiut the scientific concensus that hunting wild boar doesn’t actually help with eradication or population control, and that the only effective means of eradication is entire sounder capture.

I am also looking for wild boar in Alberta photos. I have tons from Sask, but would like some from over here as well.

Thanks all!

You could contact Stumpslayer he has killed a dozen or more. I have killed one feral boar free range, was invited a few years back to a property they were coming into and feeding with a farmers cows. I shot a 300lbs+ boar. Very few folks have regular interaction with them because their location and areas they are huntable are pretty hush hush.

Maybe talk to Lac St. Anne County, that seems to be a hot spot.

I would prefer they were referred to as "feral Pigs/Boars". Same with "wild" horses. Just a technicality but it changes the emotion attached to it.
Good luck on the search. Lac Ste Anne County is where I would start too

Agreed. "Wild" gives them legitimacy in some people's eyes.
