Default Archery hunting clothing system

I am wondering what guys typically wear for hunting clothing during archery season.

I have been archery hunting for a couple of seasons, but I have sort of just been doing it as a way to scout for rifle season. This year I would actually like to get a deer in archery season. In the past I have tried to wear clothing I have that is better suited for late October/November, as a result I tend to end up a bit warm.

The camo that I have comes from Firstlite. It's quite expensive, but I have had pretty good luck and got pretty damn close to some animals while wearing it. Most likely due to learning a lot the past couple of years and definitely learning to keep difficult mountain wind in my favor.

I have been considering getting the Obsidian Pant from FL, but am not sure where to start with a jacket. I am considering just a vest and using some non camo pieces I own. I plan to mostly use it for spot and stalk with a little bit of tree stand sits.

Cheers,

Get an ASAT leafy suit, it’ll go over most of your clothing... then go to value village and buy some wool and a down vest and get hunting!

Then ...soak the asat suit in permethrin and it’ll also work as a bug suit.
On warm days I’ve been known to wear the suit over my stanfields and nothing else. It’s the best money I’ve ever spent.

Default Good advice from the chef

You don’t need more than a layer of camo on the outside. The asat it a good pattern to break up your shape.

I have the Obsidian pants and they are great. I wear really thin long johns underneath and they are perfect. Great mobility and nice pockets.

I got the first lite Phantom leafy coat to go with them. I'm pretty excited to try it out this fall.

Thanks for the replies. Not sure why but I never really considered a leafy suit. I guess my impression is of a military sniper hiding for days.

With the leafy suits. Are you guys mostly standing hunting?

I run a asat leafy top or a simple long sleeved light earth toned shirt if it's really warm. I generally don t bow hunt from blinds. I'm usually hiking hills and calling elk

I’ve used it for everything, been to Africa and australia with it. The pants bottoms will rip, that’s ok the rest has held up for years. I bought a second suit as a spare but haven’t needed unit yet. Buying an extra head piece is a good idea, they’re easy to lose.

Day one camo had some good options. Cabelas outfitters series was pretty good for warm hunts also.

I would check out Sitka -it’s expensive but you get what you pay for. If you call them and tell them what you need they will help explain and recommend products for you. Their system is advanced and a little complicated if your not familiar with their layering and sizing. I have switched over and won’t buy anything else after using.

Quiet clothing is my first choice for bowhunting. I would wear blaze orange clothing that is quiet over any camo pattern if the camo pattern was noisy.

First light makes great clothing. I don’t think you’ll gain much switching brands to Kuiu or Sitka. Early season can be tuff with its 25° and your crushing hills. These supper warm no rain days are the only time I still wear the devils bass pro brand cotton.

That’s true. Lots of wool and fleece for me, natural fur hat amid mitts...
