New to Bow Hunting

Hey guys,


I'm brand new to Bow hunting and I'm wondering what tips you could share. I pretty much know zip about bow hunting. I've been out to scout 316 and I'm also looking at going to 312. Im hoping to go out for Elk however I'm going to bring a white tail tag and Moose tag. Do you guys recommend any good WMUs that are public? And what do I need to do to get into Elk hunting?

How long have you been shooting a bow? Have you hunted before with a rifle?

Shooting a bow all summer, yes I've hunted with a rifle.

Biggest advice I can give is set a maximum distance limit and stick to it. 30 yards is a good goal... with 40 being a maximum. Archery is very different than rifle hunting and you can’t make something out of nothing. The situation has to be perfect before you let loose an arrow. Set a limit stay within it. The further the shot the higher the chance of a poor result.

This is great advice, also remember to keep practicing through archery season. The number of guys that stop practicing in September and only shoot at animals not paper is shocking.
