303 - N.4 - MKi - enflield/churchill info pls.
Hey, does anyone know how to remove the bolt from this gun ?
I thought the front tip of the bolt would turn up wards and wala but the front tip does not move at all, is there another way ?

Should be a tab at the back of the receiver that you push down as you pull the bolt back ?

Close Bolt. Lift bolt handle. As you pull it back flick up the little "flipper" on the front of the bolt. Just as you start to pull the bolt back.

Posted up on other thread but seem to remember some LE had a notch on the right side bolt rail?
Line up bolt head with the notch and snap it up counter clockwise IIRC

Yup no.4 Mk1 bolt head gets lifted out in the forward notch
The No 1's have the latch plunger at the rear of the receiver

The No1MK111 had the release at the back as did the No.4Mk1 but mine is a No.4Mk1* so they may have deleted the rear latch on the * model? 
Or is yours in fact a No.1 Mk111?

My No 4 Mk 1* has no button. Just the forward groove cut in the rail.
My SMLE has the button at the rear.

Yup mine are both the same, but I'm sure I have seen a picture somewhere of a No.4 with a rear bolt latch.
May be wrong though, and my Skinnerton's book has gone walkabout!

No.4 - MKi, resportized by Churchill
This one one is for sure #4 = the reason I want to take out the bolt is because it needs to be taken out to install the scope mounting base and then it goes back on.
If I did it correctly, I included a photo of the rifle.

Can't really make it out.
I have used an S&K mount before. It has a pin that holds it to the rear sight base and a hex srew that wedges the front of the mount into the receiver by the charging bridge.
You can take it out and return to the original config

Interestingly enough, in Frank DeHass' book on bolt action rifles there are two different pictures of No4 Mk1 actions- one with the rear bolt release button and one with the forward bolt release slot!!

No4 Mk1 would have the plunger at rear sight area.
No4 Mk1* would have notch toward chamber area.
Changs made to make production faster.

Both the actions in my pics are Mk1's , not Mk1*'s
Maybe the the one wasn't stamped properly but it would is there

S&K scope mount
CM, are you happy with the S&k scope mount ?
That's the one I was looking at but have not purchased yet.
I guess once the scope is mounted for as long as you don't loose what you take out from the rifle you should be able to put it back to it's original, is it easy to install ?

IIRC the last one I installed for a guy I did with my multi plier! 
He showed up at the range and mentioned that he had the mount in his truck but didn't have any tools.
Instead of going into m y tool box ( I was already packed up) I just grabbed the multi plier off my belt and put it on for him.
