Why so pricey in Fort Mc even just changing the tires.
I just called couple of shop and private mechanic for just putting my summers on and shop asking me 189CAD and the mechanic tried to deal with 130 CAD.
I was shocked after I called Edmonton shop that they r only asking 39.90 CAD.
just feel like leave the winters on until winter comes back, it is said that i would see winter pretty soon here in fort mc

Because they can.
They figure since everyone else is making they money why cant they take their part of it all.
Then it trickles down to everything else in this province and that attitude is why everything is so damn expensive when it doesn't have to be.
Winter isnt over yet anyways, Calgary is about to get a couple more days of snow.

Can't remember what I paid last time I switched em over...all I know is I did it faster in my driveway with a bottle jack and a tire iron than a tire shop did it with a lift and air tools. It wasn't so much the money they charged me as the time I spent watching them change tires. It was painful (that's right...two guys). God, I feel sorry for anyone that runs a business these days...it really must try your patience when hiring.
I'm going back to changing my own oil too, you gotta supervise them doing that job too. Had one kid tell me start my truck up before they put the oil in.
Sorry...got sidetracked...

Are u talking just swapping out tires on rims all ready, or taking winters of the rim and then mount and balance summers? It's $35/tire at fountain here in whitecourt for mount and balance.

My son works at a Kal Tire location. Yeah, the bosses will "make money" if they can from people who know nothing.
We just go there and say, "Gimme some tires".
We get a family discount; and my son knows we're safety nuts, so we let him pick the best "rain rated" all-seasons for the summer, and pretty good snow tires for the winter - and 4 extra rims for a good price if we need/want 'em.
He tells 'everyone', " Do your research and you shouldn't get ripped off."

Yea, I think that 39 bucks is off if the tires have to be mounted and balanced. It was 39 bucks just for a tire rotation when my truck went into the shop. Thought it was high but talked to my dad about it and he said thats the going rate.

130 $ for all four or just one tire? lol.
If you are into alittle drive there is a shop in the mackay industrial park, it is in the northwest corner. Bring cash and they will hook you up out there. Been there twice and got help when I rolled up and was on my way in less than twenty minutes... I think I paid 40 $ to switch and balance two new tires the last time I was there.

That is pretty steep for a tire swap and even more pricey for a wheel swap if you run 2 sets of tires on dedicated rims.I used to swap my all season wheels and my winter wheels when I had my Ranger. All told it took about 45 minutes and some sweat equity.I went to a shop a couple of weeks back and I was first in line and the wheel swap cost me $35 + breakfast whilst I waited.

Get motivated and get busy with a jack.Might take you an hour or so but you get to ensure the lugnuts are tight as can be.Besides saving you money it builds character so I have been told.

thank you,
I am just wondering it is called just ' swap ' ? cuz I don't know much about what the mechanic said.
He said "does it rim on it blah blah blah".. I didn't actually got it.
I may have misunderstood. what should I exactly ask for????

Back in the fall I was charged $300 to change the rubber over on my rims so dont feel too bad. I run fairly large tires and their balancer couldnt get the rubber off the rims because their machine was too small and didnt have enough power. So the reason I was charged so much is because they said I took up 3 of their mechanics for a few hours each so they were actually cutting me a deal. I havent been back since.

Just ask for a tire rotation. But be sure to specify that you want the other ones put on lol
