Yup totally agree, I felt a sense of relief when I heard the news I couldn't imagine a rebuild with Sutter still at the helm, I would imagine they will wait til February to make any more moves, what do you think ??

Their options are quite limited in my eyes. Only players that you may be able to deal are Iginla and Kipper. Too many bad contracts for almost everyone else. Same situation there that Tambelini walked in to in Edmonton. Time to maybe buy out some guys at the end of the year. Contracts will handcuff the Flames!!!!

Nothing like the Oiler situation, Oilers had/have prospects and picks to work with, Flames don't. Flames are handcuffed as you say by what almost a dozen NTC NMC contracts? Flames are up against the cap too. As I have mentioned best thing to do is trade what you can now and closer to the deadline get what you can draft wise for Kipper and Iggy thats the only assets that are tradeable IMO

I will miss ISWT he was the best thing for the rest of the league

I was only referring to the contract situations. But I also do not think Edmonton was bursting at the seams with prospects when Tambelini took over. Most of their top prospects have been drafted after he took over I do believe.

Not true many of the players we are seeing have been in the system...but I was refering more to the fact that they have a weak prospect pool due to trading picks away for a win now mentality...this year Flamers have only a first round they traded 2nd to NYR? and 3rd to the Oil for Staois who sits in the pressbox for over 3 million.....ahh ISWT lol

Yes the Flames have a very weak prospect pool, but the Oilers is just getting better in the last couple years. I think if you were to look at the Oilers active roster you might be surprised by how many guy's joined the team since Tambelini took over. Through the draft, trades and FA signings it is close to half. Then add in guy's like Penner and Brule that were traded for before Tambelini era and the Oiler prospect pool on the team gets even smaller. There was a dark few years of drafting for both teams and guy's like Stortini show that to a T as I believe he was a second round pick.

I am pretty sure that after last year Calgary leads the regular season version of the BOA. But lets face it the true BOA happens in the playoffs and Edmonton has dominated that. Some fantastic memories from the playoff match ups and I hope there is more to come. Fantastic hockey!!! One thing is for sure though, it would never ever be as physical! Guy's would wind up in jail now for what they did back then!!!

It was awesome and I was so confused!!! Living in Calgary so I felt I should cheer for the Flames but Messier was my favorite player!! This is what made me decide that I did not need to cheer for anyone, I could cheer for my favorite players!! I remember sitting in the Dome the night that Gretz scored the short handed goal top shelf on Vernon from the top of the circles. You could here the ping all around the whole building!!!! And dead silence followed!!

I feel sorry for the guy to take over for Sutter, there is more wrong than there is right, its going to take yrs to fix. This will be a true test to see how patient the flames fans are

So after all the whining Tampa did after the Omark shoot out goal, think they worked Stamkos over for his penalty shot goal tonight? Beautiful goal!!

Agreed! What a crock that whole thing was.

Watched the Oil game tonight. Very, very entertaining. Of all the players, I must single out Stortini tonight. He has worked hard on improving his game and it's starting to show. Gotta love a guy who gives 100% each and every shift.

Yep anddddd yep!

Any guesses on the first Flame out? Gotta think about trying to get TO's 1st from the Bruins to set them on course for a potential cup run (the Bruins, that is) , or some talk with NYI's. I also hear the Lamorella may be willing to cut a deal or two.

I don't know where they would go first. Jarome to LA would make sense. Schen in Calgary would make sense too!!!! I don't know what teams would want from the Flames???? To many bad contracts. Kipper to Washington maybe?? Philly would love to have Kipper I think to but no cap room.

Considering their interest in Kovalchuk, then perhaps. I figured they would do the Hawks thing with a huge run this year and win it the next, but Iggy would certainly be a tempting final piece of the puzzle to add to get it done this year. Interesting.......
