Red face Flying again????

Well its been 20+ years since I have fly fished and after standing in the bow for 4 hours yesterday and having 3 misses and 1 beauty break my line ( took my go to lure ) after jumping two feet out of the river ( what an adrenaline rush ) then having a guide boat with two fly fishermen drift right past me and pull up two nice little trout I'm convinced that I need to fly fish this river....not sure where to start as I hear everyone talking about different types of flies. Is there a good book on fly types hints tricks for river fishing as yesterday was my first time fishing a river and it is different.. I do realize that this site will be very helpful at times as you guys no your S*@T....

Pick up a copy of Jim McLennan's book "Blue Ribbon Bow". It will give you an idea of what kind of flies to use at what time of year.
