Default Shaving

Shaved my beard off this week and now I need some razor blades and WTF are they expensive, especially if I am going to keep this up. So the question is, has anyone tried one of the blade clubs such as Harry's or Dollar Shave club and if so, what is your feedback compared to Gillette etc?

Get a Merkur and a bunch of double edge blades. Feather, Astra... far cheaper and you can get a better shave if you want to.

Use to use the gillettes but they are to much cash and don't last, now using the 5 or 10 pack disposable 3 blades work good. I run the tap with hot h20 and keep the blade clean of material.

Agreed...sikiningly pricey...I'm sorry I dont have experience with the alternatives. So far, I gripe and grumble but still pay the price for the overpriced garbage at the last second. I need to find a better alternative as well

I switched to a safety razor a few years back and will never buy a gillette product again, especially since the latest piece of man-bashing they puked up. fendrihan.ca for all your shaving needs. I'm sure there are other places too.

I've been using the Gilette big clam shell package of disposables that you get from Costco, I think there is 52 razors in a package.

Lasts me for years so long as you keep the blades really clean and don't let them get gummed up with your fur. Like someone else said, lots and lots of hot water.

It' s pretty inexpensive and they shave pretty well.

I will try that arm sharpening thing though, never heard of that idea before. Thanks for posting that video.

It puzzles me that you can buy whole disposable razors for less than just the replaceable head for other models.

I tried that after you posted it on another thread about shaving. Works like a hot damn. Thanks for the info, may never have to buy another track 2 blade again, the package I have should last years. I do most of my shaving with a Straight razor but the Trac 2 is handy for a quick swipe before going out at night. I also tired it using the strop for my straight and that works good too, but everyone has an arm so that is far simpler for most.

^^^^THIS^^^^
A safety razor gives a better shave than the multiblades so popular today. Takes a bit more skill but two years supply of Astra blades costs about $20.

Used every razor in the books, and I keep going back to the green schick two blades. More blades = more money and I find no difference between 2 blades and the 5 blade.

I do this and it works very well. I’ve got two blades left. I’m hoping to get the rest of 2019 out of them. Maybe even longer

I like the doube edged safety razor. I have used gillette's fusion this and turbo that, but the double blade is cheap and effective.

Razors and Blades is the term, a common marketing ploy, we'll sell the razor cheap and hose them on the blades.

Real men pound their whiskers in with a hammer and bite them off on the inside.

It's just like buying a printer....$79 and $75 bucks for ink twice a year!

Default Shaving

I use Harrys shaving club. Excellent blades. Last for a long time and not expensive at all. I think if you try them you,ll be impressed.

Ive been on DSC for ages now and love them. Much cheaper than the Gillettes, last maybe a little bit less well but there's no way I'm going back.

I went on ebay and bought a big bag of 5 bladed ones. they were still expensive, but less than at the store and I've got enough to last for a long time.

+1 For safety razor, the money I'm saving by not buying Gilette blades anymore!

I don't know if it's an option for you. I used to shave all the time. $30 for 4 fancy blades is BS... I've been just trimming with a good set of clippers for the last few years. Razor only comes out when required to be extra cleaned up...

I use DSC. Now that I am retired I do not shave every day so a 4 pack of blades lasts me a couple of months.

I realize this is about blades and razors but why not electric? They do a decent job. In the long run the cost is cheaper I think. No need for lather, lotion or blade replacement. Even with the worst hangover they are safer to use
