how many of you guys still have the first gun you ever bought? the 110 savage i bought in 1964 is still here and i wouldn't consider parting with it. it has knocked down a bunch of different stuff.

you are so lucky to get your first one back!

I thought my Dad was smarter than that to sell a gun to a 16 year old? It was definitely a different time. I still have my 30 30 Marlin that I bought about the same time. I had Dad's 30 30 Marlin and still have his Savage shotgun. The shotgun has a plastic stock ( bought around ww2).

Don't have the first gun I ever got, but I do have the first I ever bought with my own money; a sporterized (cut down) Swedish Mauser.

It's a good gun, and though I don't shoot it a lot, it's a very personal possession and almost a part of me.

Wasn't all that many years ago that I bought my first gun at 14 years old. At least I think I was 14...

That's when I got my hunters training and I believe I could hunt legally with it at that age. I think I had to have an adult with me to buy it, which worked out as it was before I could get a car on the road.

At 16, it wasn't uncommon for it to be in the trunk of my car when I went to go hunting up by a buddy's place.

I'm inspired.
I should track down my first gun.
It was a wingmaster that I sold to finish buying an engagement ring.
(It was a good investment )

Shot my first deer with that same rifle. Not my first rifle as it belonged to a hunting buddy of my Dads but that picture brought back a lot of memories....glad you got it back. At 12 years old I thought that was the best rifle ever.

I honestly can’t remember what the first centerfire rifle I ever bought was. It’s between two, a Remington 740 in 30-06 or a Winchester 94. I do know I don’t have either one anymore, this thread makes me kind of sad about that.

The first “firearm”, by law definition, that I bought was my Ruger 10/22. Bought it when I was 13. Okay, dad bought it, but it was with my money that I earned. I still have that one and will never part with it. Dad wouldn’t buy it for me until I have a real gun cabinet (metal). So I saved up and bought that first, still have it too!

I still have the first rifle given to me, grandfather's Winchester 88, that one isn't going any where. I did a trace on the serial number, puts the date of manufacture in 1958 and it's still a great shooter. The first one I purchased was an old Cooey single shot .22, that got passed on to a friends son for grouse hunting. There is only one that I regret selling, that was my Winchester 9422M. That's one I would love to get back. Yes I have a thing for levers.

The first gun I ever bought was a Remington 870 in 12 gauge. It is the left handed version. Worked all summer as a Junior Ranger in northern Ontario to save up enough money to buy it. We were paid $10.00 per day, plus room and board was provided.

Second gun I ever bought was a Lakefield bolt action .22 with scope. Sold it many years ago.

The first "high powered" rifle I ever bought was a Ruger M77 in .270 calibre. Mounted a Weaver 2.5 x 7 scope on it. Still have it, although I haven't used it recently except at the range.
