Default Canadian tire Edmonton

Is there any one store better than the others for fishing gear?

The new one on Manning drive has a sign on the front .

" Canada's Hunting and Fishing store "

It has to be the best then, I would guess. LOL.

Very Big store, don't know if it's the best though.

The Manning Canadian Tire was a joke. Went to Cabelas and they didn’t open till 10 am!! The Fishing Hole didn’t have much for ultra light rods. Had to go to Calgary so ended up going to bass pro and picked up a sick rod and reel. Service was the ****s there tho.

Default Manning canadian tire

I think that the new Manning canadian tire is a huge disappointment , they sure spent a lot in that big sign advertising themselves though!🙄

They promote themselves as Canada’s “Fishing Store”, but the first time I went in (Manning CT) there they didn’t have what I was looking for — bait. When I asked where the fishing bait was, customer service told me all about their lures, rapalas, etc. When I clarified that I was looking for minnows, worms, maggots, etc., he explained that they don’t carry them.

So much for being Canada’s Fishing Store. I went over to Cabela’s and bought the bait.

The best CT in Edmonton for selection is South Common. The Windermere location isn’t bad either and often has some decent store specific clearance sales. The Manning location isn’t good for selection, and Sherwood Park probably has the worst customer service department of them all.

That sums it up really well!

The Manning store really puzzles me. They have such an opportunity to capitalize upon the residual traffic from the local Cabela's...

A few of the Canadian Tires in Calgary have a fridge in the back (of fishing section) stocked with live bait. It's interesting the Edmonton stores don't.

Agreed, but the OP asked about CT specifically.

Seems that growing up in Saskatchewan Canadian tire used to be way better fishing wise. Walmart too, now it’s all a joke.

I was in the Stettler Walmart today and all they have is one side of about a 30-foot aisle dedicated to fishing. The Source for Sports and CT were better but they're what? About 20 miles from Buffalo Lake? Villages in Saskatchewan have better fishing gear selection at the local hardware.

Canadian tires are all independently owned and usally the owner decides if their is rifles, fishing etc

Some don't even sell hunting licenses because the owner is anti hunting or fishing

The entire fishing/hunting licence re-selling program works at a loss for most places. It's a business decision and I don't blame them. It's 2018, we can buy our licences online and not hurt our local retailers in the name of convenience.

As Russ said many places dont sell license because there is no money in it. Has nothing to do with being anti hunting/fishing.

Yup they can put in as many isles of whatever they want, whatever sells best in their stores gets shelf space. If something is not selling well that space gets shrunk or changed to something that does.

Yeah but just getting people through the doors is huge for biz. Ive gottrn my license several times at the fishing hole. 98% of the time drop cash on gear, hooks, etc.
